it's not like middle school is fun either, but well.. i'd probably prefer it over "lol go get a job and buy a car and house and food and other stuffs", although it'd be nice if life skills class was a thing here. dunno if it is a thing at the highschool though

If you live in the US then no. Probably not.

College was the most fun time in my life for me, so it's no surprise that I'm trying to get back in so I can try a more sensible approach to getting an animation degree.

Though I guess I should say that no specific period in life is going to be the end-all, be-all best time of your life. If it turns out that time is in your 40's, then neat! If it's in childhood then also neat!

it's actually fairly nice to get away from your parents at a certain point

now it'd be perfect if I could get a job already

I still have no job and it's been a year since I graduated.

Hopefully I find one.

That sucks. I hope the jobless time doesn't become a penalty for you at that point.

No, it isn't a problem. Parents know it's tough out there.

I mean, regarding employers. "oh hey, what have you been doing this year? there's nothing on your resume."

Atleast your parents don't pressure you, and that's good.

speaking of which. remember that I applied at Ubisoft a month ago?

Dear Hurr Durr,

After studying your application, we trashed it, because you have zero experience, and fuck you for being a newb.

In an attempt at softening the blow to your self-confidence, we automatically inform you that we're "very interested into your profile" and we will call you if we have opportunities that match your profile, but that will not happen.

Thank you and fuck you for applying.

"make an epic portfolio, show off shit like blargSNES, they'll see your skills and hire you"

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

professional experience is the only thing that matters. when you're a noob, the only way to get it is via internships, and the only way to do internships is in the context of univ/engschool. except for crap internships of two months max, and illegal internships.

which means that for this year, I'm screwed, I'm not becoming a developer any time soon.

oh well.

Just returned from my very first gaming convention, the Brasil Game Show.

It was kinda awesome actually, there was a stand for nVidia, Playstation, Xbox, Ubisoft, EA/Warner, YouTube Gaming, Twitch.TV, Machinima, etc.

The waiting line for most games was too long for us to actually bother playing the games (>1 hour), but there was a lot of them. Overwatch, Final Fantasy XV, Resident Evil 7, Mortal Kombat, Forza Horizon 3, FIFA 17 (by far the most crowded one XD), Horizon, etc. There was also a lot of space for seemingly one single game, Gwent (which was a card game?). There was also Minecraft Story Mode somewhere but it must've been shoved into some corner of the Xbox stand.

There was a space for general arcades and also another area for a lot of indie games, one which we were able to see the person actually coding for a bit. Oh and also a lot of people cosplaying (Batman, the charcaters from Assassin's Creed, Mettaton, Deadpool, Cammy Meele, etc.) Overall, it was an interesting experience. It went better than what I thought. Man there was a lot of people in there.

The was no Nintendo unfortunately (and expectedly).

Did you play it? If you did, how was it?

Like I said, there were too many people for me to play anything in a sane amount of time, but it looked quite nice from what I was able to see. One of the few games I was actually somewhat interested in. I kinda like fast racing games like that, but I kinda suck at 'em too.

to be honest, I want to play some more good Xbox games. I feel like I haven't been using it enough, addicted to Nintendo and stuff..

Wondering if I should get Madden 17. Should I?

Indeed you can!

Though, I don't think anybody in there who isn't staff actually knows about me yet...

Brassring and Taleo deserve to be thrown into a lake of fire and whoever coded them both is awful.

(Congrats on the job, Zero, I am very interested in GiT and I hope Disney won't go C&D nuts on it)

Oh man, I had the worst job interview of my life a couple of days ago. Accidentally loaded up old versions of projects because I didn't think to check them, pulled the new versions only to have them not compile because they targeted the wrong version of the .NET framework, then they crashed because they were missing files and oh my god I fucked up so bad.

I start tomorrow as a volunteer! If I do well, I have a job starting next year!

Well, good job!

Glad they were forgiving regarding your mistakes during the interview.
