Recently I rescued an old Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, which I'm pretty sure is running XP. It has a few problems, a cracked screen (although it has external video outputs), and maybe a dead battery (I could probably find a new one on ebay for ~$20). Anyway, I plug it in, the battery and power light flash green really fast, then I push the power button. Nothing. If I constantly mash the power button, the battery light starts flashing orange, and randomly, no pattern (oh no, OLOD). If i plug it in without the battery, lights flash green, but no orange light and it still doesn't turn on.
I've tried hitting it, and holding the power button for 30 seconds while the battery was out, but still nothing. I heard It might be a Motherboard or PSU issue, but I'm determined to find out what it is. Can someone help me figure out whats wrong with it? Also, when i push the power button and it flashes, i don't hear ANY sound, no fan trying to start, or anything. The laptop also shows no lights AT ALL when the mousepad is unplugged. ____________________ ![]() |
