| I am very sorry to be that luser, but, after trying to gather a .2sf of Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, and being unable to. I've decided to dig around as much as my limited knowledge allows. Sadly, all i've found is stuff about the game using a completely different engine, for some reason. ( the fact that the whole OST goes unused in the final should be something worth putting in the wiki, i'd think ).
Despite that, there's three things i've found, albeit one of them is quite obvious, which might still be worth noting or researching on ( i think ): 1: Most of the tracks and instruments are called after spices, for some reason. ( probably a well known fact, but, well, we've got the SM3DW internal name posted, so this might as well ) 2: There is a "DUMMY" set of samples, that, unsurprisingly enough, seems to go dummied out. ( and unused, of course ) 3: Digging more into the SWAVs, there's two instrument sets that got my attention. "BRINSTAR" and "MENU1". BRINSTAR has been almost dummied out, with the remaining instruments being two strings at different tones, and a bubbling sound. However, MENU1 contains the entirety of the instruments needed to reproduce the First Hunt menu song.( I have run a quick comparison and this set is entirely unique ) And, as you all know, the prototype also has a remix of the original Brinstar track from Metroid I, making these instruments definite leftovers from previous builds. Given how MENU1 has all of it's instruments, this makes me think that if the instruments, that point to a possible sequence, exist, the actual sequence must be somewhere. However, it also makes me think the game might still have leftovers from the beta driver. ( maybe the whole driver tucked somewhere in there? ) There is two reasons why i speculate it might be so: On a mechanical rip, the 55th track ( 0037 ), while appears as a 3:38 track, it also appears as corrupted, implying it might not have the correct driver. ( given how these files are dependant on a 2sflib, like PSF files do need a driver file to play ). On top of that, "CHUTNEY" and "SINGLE_CART_MENU" are the same song, except the latter is using much lower quality samples. ( as i assume this was for the online download feature ). However, this could also imply that, for a while, the downloadable game menu was basically the proto intro music. ( Samples are similarly affected on "MENU1", however i can't find a proper clean rip to do a proper comparision ) Has anyone looked into this yet? This is honestly looking like there might be more unused music data, besides the 4 tracks listed on the wiki. It also would be intersting to see if anyone could dig out how to extract the music from First Hunt, to see if there's any other hidden music files, or instruments. There are some other instruments i fail to recognize, but they might be from the multiplayer functionality. Those i've pointed out are definetly unused by all means on the retail game. ( for example, there's a sample called "WIN_00", which seems to be empty, and is the only one of it's set ) ( It's times like these when i'd love to know how to do this stuff, just to provide more tangible info and less speculation ) And,here's a link to the samples, for those interested EDIT: I see Menu1 has already been mentioned in the wiki and that the rendition is completely different than the demo's version. Nevermind. |
