I've managed to acquire two betas from the Internet and am trying to run the earlier one of the two.
Has anyone of you folks had any luck getting this to run? It just quits on me with error messages and I can't quite tell what it needs to run. I've more or less wrecked my Windows 95 installation in a vain attempt to get it to work but nope. |

All I'm aware of is the AoE2 00.09.07.0222 alpha. Where did you get these two?

| I got them from a private FTP, but I thought they'd be well-known and easily available on the Internet. Is that not so? |

Oh cool, I randomly found the solution. Apparently, it just needs WinG installed; even though that's meant for 3.1, it does seem to work fine on 95 (and apparently any subsequent Windows).
I'm trying the first build and it's definitely very early, the icons are different and the pathfinding is really iffy and keeps breaking causing the villagers to get stuck or just stand still. |

Are you talking about AoE1 or 2?
I have played AoE2 more than I can remember and I will be really happy to listen about the beta
