I prefer images.allprog.nl to other image hosts, there's no stupid Flash uploader (it's done via old HTML upload), it's fast, you can view the image as it is and not in a page embedded (unlike photobucket) and you don't need an account. 6MB filesize is good too, and especially 3MB for guests.

What image hosting do you use and why do you think it is better than other sites?
PS this ain't spam, I was going to rant about photobucket being stupid in the desktop screenshot thread but didn't

KLayout v3.1
I have a Photobucket account for permanent storage of things, even though it has a slew of problems (thumbnails are the biggest ones, as I have to manually fix them or the link will target the home page instead of the image). Then, the ads. The one time ads lead to malware and/or attempted to mimic the Windows interface (this was particularly hilarious, even moreso than with other crappy ads) I was so baffled I posted about this on a thread. I now use both AdBlock Edge and NoScript to prevent all this mess, which is always enabled with few exceptions (here and tcrf where it's disabled).

I previously used imgh.us to store the drunk mood avatard, but since I now use the Schezo avatar they were axed. You can name the image youself and it's name is stored as-is on the server, but the interface was so bad I've only used it once.

I mostly use imgur for convenience, even though it kills image after six months of no clicks.

If it's temporary, or I don't care about it, I'll shove it in my Dropbox. If it's something more permanent and wherever I'm posting it to doesn't have an uploader, I'll use Imgur.

A good trick for that is to occasionally use a proxy to view the image and it shouldn't delete.
I found also a rant about image hosting sites, too (why they send so much useless garbage when retrieving and uploading images, and other such things). But I won't post it here.

PhotoBucket is probably good, maybe. Also, it says 'Zip Code' so pb is useless in the UK, I don't know.

Allprog is unblocked at school so I can upload images anytime and view them anytime, useful when I made a forum before I knew what hosting was.

Fuck yeah, Imgur! Cleanest image hosting service I've ever used.

I think I'm still using Photobucket for some images I've been using here for a long time, but by and large I use Imgur.

The speed!

Maybe it did that before? But it doesn't do that anymore. I use Imgur for most images and it works quite well so far.

They can't keep shittons of old images forever, even if they have huge storage. They probably delete old images that are no longer viewed.

An annoying thing with imgur is the design/coding of their homepage. You can't start uploading shit until every single thing has finished loading (and there are tons of miniatures and other dumb shit). What's with that shitty Javascript trend of "you may not do anything until every single fucking element on the page has finished loading"?

I checked the old FAQ through the wayback machine, and it indeed used to be a fact that they deleted images after 6 months of no activity.

I guess it was changed recently.

On topic, I actually use imgur, it has proven the most reliable for me so far.

Imageshack is slow as shit, and they randomly decide to force registration. Even dumber when they give you those dumb 'Click and discover Imageshack' images. How is clicking a static image supposed to take me to a website, genius? (yes, there are those clickable miniatures, but not all images are embedded as that)

And tinypic and its image ID reusing shit, ew...

Separate uploader extensions/programs circumvent this by utilizing the api instead, although it isn't a perfect fix.

I personally have quick upload on right click, both in explorer and firefox.

oh

go figure. I thought all the images I was uploading were going to be removed in six months of no activity.

That kinda removes the point of using Photobucket, but eh.

I used to use Tinypic, until at some point they decided to no longer service international users, including denying them access to the site and even uploaded images, or some shit like that. Switched to imgur when that happened and have been using that ever since.

...ah, actually, before either of those, I used to just FTP images I wanted to post wherever onto my webspace, so there's probably still a bunch of images from 2007 or earlier on there somewhere...

I use imgur just because you can copy-paste images and URLs into it without having to save them locally first. Useful for screenshots. Paste in to Irfanview, crop, copy and paste into imgur. Effortless.

I used to use my own domain for images, then Dropbox, but imgur is literally one button and allows me to never have to try to remember what an image was or where it was used.

I use my Rusted Logic subdomain to host a handful of special images, like my avatars and some of my old art. Aside from that, I usually just use Imgur for pretty much the same reasons as everyone else.

However, for screenshots or anything explicitly temporary, I tend to use puush. It's very convenient since I can just right click something or use a keyboard shortcut and then have a link to it in my clipboard in moments. Things on there are hosted only temporarily, though, so I can't use it for everything.

Hell yeah, puush! I get A Thing uploaded there like Q, then use Imgur as Xk mentioned--load up the page, Ctrl + v, hit enter, and boom

Plus, if you add a lowercase L to the end of your image's ID (e.g. http://i.imgur.com/someStringl.jpg instead of someString.jpg), you get a large thumbnail of your image, making for easy resizing

I used to use Majhost back when I was an avid member of the BZPower forums, but since it's been "down for maintenance" for the past couple years all the stuff on it has probably been lost forever. I use imgur nowadays, evensofar as to reup images to imgur from other sites when i want to link them

On the topic of image hosting sites. Photobucket needs to die. Every time someone links me an image they host there is no ends to the frustration. The easiest way to view the image is to have imgur grab it from URL and upload it. Since for some reason photobucket loves preventing certain browsers view their content.

On top of this photobucket still converts images that are too large (In both size and file size) to smaller low res jpg. I see no reason why anyone would want to use their service in this day and age.

I use Imageshack only because it's what I've always used and I've never really had a reason to switch, even after they started randomly deleting my old uploads.

To their credit, it was only this year that they finally deleted images I uploaded anonymously in 2009.
