Hey. So has anyone heard of "The Typing of the Dead"? It's a cross-over between "The Rising of the Dead" and a touch-typing program. No joke, you should Google it up.

Anyway, I got myself a copy. Lovely. So I installed it and tried to run it. But unfortunately, I got an error (with slight Engrish, no less):

After that dissapointment, I downloaded some patches to see if they did the job. Unfortunately, abandonware doesn't get that much support. Only a patch for the 'ATI Rage' was ever made. (btw, my graphics device is the 'ATI Radeon HD 4330'.)

I really want to play this game. It is quite possibly the only really "fun" touch-typing game in existence. Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? Apart from getting a better graphics card?

Yes. Get a worse graphics card.

Or, you might have better luck running it inside a virtual machine with Windows 98.

There's also a Dreamcast version, if you think using a Dreamcast emulator would be easier than a VM.

Did you try compatibility settings? I remember this game working in Wine (with no sound...) several years ago, though. Not sure about modern windows. Are you sure it doesn't need a glide wrapper or something?

They have one of these at the arcade in Little Tokyo. it seems interesting, but the keyboard is old and missing a million keys. That and I'm not used to the Japanese keyboard layout

Hello! I also have that problem. I try to run the game but the same message appears on the screen. And the most strange thing is that this problem is happening with my new laptop, and the game worked fine on my last laptop, which had the same graphics card: Intel HD Graphics. So what's the problem?

I tried to use glide wrappers but, honestly, I don't know how to do it for The Typing of the Dead. Friedslick6, how could you do it?
