Well, along with Krisan, we've worked out how to replace models properly.
Textures/models work fine, animations for the most part too... 'cept facial morphs...

Hello guys. Awesome work to all who have contributed to this project!
I've got some tools I've made over the years for this series and soon, I'd like to share them with any of you who are working on this project actively.
Today, I found a way to turn on some of the debug threads in the ps3 version of FFXIII-1.
At this time, I'm missing the debug assets needed by these threads I think. I will also attempt to get more of the threads up and running.
The key is to poll the ps3 for the eboot process, and as soon as it exists, attach. This allowed me to break far before the GameInitializer thread is called, and to patch a bne branch to forcefully load the debug threads. |

Just thought I'd give a quick heads up to my progress on XIII-2:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/292140/discussions/0/620700960214645361/
I've figured out how to do a lot with the game now, and modding it is officially a very real possibility now.
More on the note of unused content though, the sequel is literally swimming with leftovers from the first game, and it also looks as though there's quite a few monsters and other things cut from the game too. I'll make a comprehensive list later with screenshots and the like when I have the time.

Is that ProDG? I tried to do exactly the same but PS3 tries to call that error sound I previewed on the first post which results into a hang since the file is missing and only the filename remains on the files list. Possibly the E3 disc of the game has all the assets that are missing, it seems that they didn't even try to remove anything debug related from that disc and to be honest, they had no reason to, it's not a disc that had any chance to get a public release, I'm glad that things turned out differently, it contained ALOT of reaaally early XIII stuff and god knows how much more is hidden. |

Finally found out what that "Doge" playable character is, it's Dajh.
It seems that both Serah and Dajz at one point in development would would be awaken from Crystal Stasis and be playable, they have data as a temporary team formation with Serah as a leader character and Dajh would be a supporting only character that you'd have to protect or something (that's a very long shot). You can still use them in your party but there is way too many data missing or not being called correctly and their models will be missing or the game will hang.
The data that helped me found about what this Doge character was are present in the E3 disc and are missing (or are modified?) in the retail.
Also the textures of the early Hope model are actually correct and the model is working also correct, it's Noesis that extracts it incorrectly. I will update the OP once I'm done doing some stuff. Also the wiki page needs to be updated with everything in this thread, full with subpages etc. |

I've remember playing with these characters, trying to see if they would let me break the collision system.
With Serah, it behaves like a ghost, you can play with her, but no model so it's invisible.
However, Dajh it's too corrupted, you can only move the camera.
Something interesting with Serah is that, playing with her will not trigger the routine that loads the map blocks, so if you go forward you will be walking in the air
, as the collision system remains but with no new block models loaded.
I've worked with the party on the PS3 version savegame with this info:
The party offsets (although hasn't tested them much) are as follows:
0x1BE21: First Party Character
0x1BE25: Second
0x1BE29: Third
0x1BE2D: Fourth
0x1BE31: Fifth
0x1BE35: Last one
Active party
0x1BE39: First one
0x1BE3D: Second one
0x1BE41: Third one
Party's leader seem to be at 0x1BE45
And the Character list goes as follows:
00: Boss : Hope with the Dreadnoght.
01: Change Dummy: Can't move, only camera
02: Fang on a Chocobo
03: Hope on a Chocobo
04: Light on a Chocobo
05: Snow on a Chocobo
06: Sazh on a Chocobo
07: Vanille on a Chocobo
08: Doge (Dajh): behaves like Change Dummy
09: Fang
0a: Gadot: Doesn't appear in the 7th (It's likely it's assets are inside Hanging Edge data)
0b: Hope
0c: Le Breau: Doesn't appear in the 7th (It's likely it's assets are inside Hanging Edge data)
0d: Lightning
0E: Sazh
0F: Serah: It's a ghost, you can move but no model is visible, you can't interact with anything (including saves) and the game will not load the 3D blocks
of the area if you advance forward, although there are objects and collision loaded.
10: Snow
11: Vanille
The best way to go, avoiding the game to freeze if by changing one of the last three characters (0x1BE2D, 0x1BE31 or 0x1BE35) with the one you want.
If you change your party and put a character with a chocobo you will be able to play, but most menues will get locked and if you hit a monster the game
will freeze (maybe this doesn't happen in Archylte Steppe).
I'm not able to essay this in the PC version, as I haven't found a save editor yet nor I was able to locate the party's offsets in the RAM.
Now, if we see the Gadot and Le Breau behaviour, we can infer that, Dajh was an exclusive character of some zone and maybe, all these configurations could be Bodhum related, not being playable after Crystal Stasis but in a flashback of the days before the Purge, I remember VIRGIN KLM managed to dump some corrupted audio that matched the dialogue of some characters in Snow's Bodhum flashback. |

Well you can play as Lebreau and Gadot in the 7th Ark (and anywhere you wish).

| I'm getting ready for a MASSIVE restructure of the XIII article on the wiki with additional stuff that are not posted yet here. At the same time I'm doing the same thing for XIII-2 that I thought it didn't have alot of unused content and I was sooo wrong. Last but not least I have a list with some unused content on Lightning Returns, like some unused mosters and items etc but I'll wait for the PC version to come out before I'll do anything, I don't want Square Enix to go on a content/feature remocal spree like they did with XIII-2 after the community found the console exclusive DLC content. |

Just got an e-mail from MEGA about a claim of copyright infringement on the save set I posted back on page 5.
Nothing interesting, just found it really peculiar. |

May I ask if someone is still working on this game? Or is everyone working on XIII-2 mods?
Are you still trying to activate the debug menus? Has anyone created new Cheat Engine tables with some new event flags?
I apologize for so many questions but I think it would be nice to receive an update on your interesting work since the previous post is about 3 months old.
Thanks in advance |
