Neither of them have a description when you buy it, and both are called Hit Protector. I guess the red staff thing was meant to be a power booster, the other being a defense booster.

... Or is this old news? It's new to me...

The staff thing definitely looks like it'd be some sort of upgrade, though i think it'd be more of a capacity upgrade. dunno what a big panel called a "Hit Protector" would be used for in a practical manner though (outside of being a shield, but i doubt it)...

does buying them add anything to the status screen?

I haven't noticed anything different, unfortunately. I'll keep looking, though.

Edit: After looking at the DP to SFA Tumblr, the red staff thing could've been the Staff Hit Booster. There's a description for it in the gametext/shop for buying it, but it doesn't show up when I actually buy it and there's no description for how many scarabs it costs. It's also kind of funny that the exact opposite happens to the Hit Protector, having no description when it would be bought yet having its name and how many scarabs it's worth.

This bizarre door is located in the inner part of Ocean Force Point Temple and looks really off compared to the rest of the temple. I think I can recall a similar door texture found in the debug version of Ocarina of Time: Master Quest.

I've been trying to get the default.dol to work, and while it still shows nothing on the screen it at least told me what files it was looking to load.



In the image above, the log is complaining that it can't find those 8 files under "animtest" since I removed all of the contents from it. Isn't it strange that it's trying to load those first?

I've also concluded that the demo we can all load and play in Dolphin has no debug mode! I'd imagine you'd find at least traces of it in the boot.dol, but there isn't anything that even hints at there being a developer mode. Which is why I'm drawn back over to default.dol, which has "dev == 0" and other interesting strings... Texture Viewer, Model Viewer, Play Map...

this guy http://dinosaur-planet-to-sfa.tumblr.com/ has found some stuff, namely the images for the food bag and various foods (fish, meat, eggs, and apples) in different stages of decay lol. The food bag, nor any of the food besides mushrooms, is mentioned in the game, yet i recall an audio clip from DP talking about the food bag.

Interestingly, if you look at the apple and spore icon, you can see Krystal's hand, presumably. But the hands look like SFA's Krystal's hands, as Krystal from DP wore yellow gloves I don't think these are from Dinosaur Planet, rather I think these are from that awkward in-between stage.

A bit off topic but something about Krystal's hands though... anybody notice her hands are completely inconsistent between images of her? She doesn't have "creepy human hands", it's still her gloves, the bios render design was carried over to her final render design, the colors are just less stronger, making the gloves look human-skin like. Also, because it's a scan.

Her ingame design simply has no gloves at all, so the hand icon most likely was a DP icon after all.

I think I'm getting different results than you. For me the "red staff thing" has the same description as the panel in the first screenshot you posted but I haven't seen it anywhere in the store, ever.



The panel also looks identical to the P.D.A icon. Maybe you had to buy it back from the store later on in the game, along with the Hi-Def Display Device/Zoom Goggles?

Wow, this build is the gift that keeps on giving.

I was thinking the next thing we should do is compare the gametext stuff with the final version. I'm sure there are many dialog changes all over the place. I'm curious if there are any big dialog changes between the two versions that might change the context of the story itself? Particularly in the later parts of the game.

The only problem with comparing the two versions is that the overall placement of the dialog in each version is different, even though most of the dialog is relatively the same (with small changes in grammar). It seems like they were playing around with the format a bit after the prototype version, since the file sizes are considerably larger than they end up being in the final.

Also, I think we should think about getting more of this stuff onto the wiki. I know this thread is a tad messy now, but there's a lot of info here that would be great to gather all in one place. I would do it but I suck at creating wiki articles from scratch.

Edit: Here is the entire contents of MPEG.BIN (~26MB), each file converted into OGG format and renamed by hand. Spellings for things, such as names of places and characters, may not always be correct. This zip file contains all of the textures that Kyte's Command is able to extract and convert (~260MB).

Might be interesting. I remember speaking with monokoma (@Unseen64) a long time a go about some other N64 prototypes from the DreamTR sale. I forget if he has the capabilities to dump them or not. Regardless, I'd advise the two of them to keep a low profile on that for a while.

My body is ready. I'm so ready to tear that ROM apart.

EDIT: It seems fake. Someone said that the images of the script were taken from another thread on ASSEMBlers.

My breathing actually increased just reading that post, almost hyperventilating, you guys have no idea how badly I want to play DP. If this is real I will cry and run naked through the snow or something, I swear to god.

edit: so the guy who found it is a 15-year-old kid...so it's probably fake. My question though, is why? DP isn't a super popular thing so it wouldn't make him famous to act like he has it. Atmost he's gonna get like, five people looking at him. Not a particularly compelling reason to lie.
