I finally finished downloading the simtelnet archive.

Sure, it's mostly Windows 95 programs, so it can't be that big, right?...



Pair that up with a max download speed of 470 KB/s. Not fun.

Listening to these old E3 2010 Giant Bomb podcasts had revealed to me how grating Leigh Alexander is. She had valid points, but goddamn she's always yelling and talking over people.

You know, I've never really listened to a podcast before. Closest I've come to that is the Rooster Teeth animated shorts and GameXplain's discussion videos, but I've never actually sought any out or listened to one properly.


So now I'm curious. For those of you who do regularly listen to podcasts, what do you find appealing about them? What got you started on listening to them? Are there types of podcasts you prefer?

I've decided to create a custom Windows for Workgroups 3.11 install because everybody has already made one and one more custom install thingy doesn't make any difference.

It will probably never be released anyway, because, among other reasons...


Checksum of sorts on EXE files.

Shockingly, this checksum thing is also used on Winhelp (not WinHlp32) of all things, but not on anything else.

It's a nice way to kill time while commuting, walking around, or generally anything that allows you to multitask to some degree!

For Giant Bomb's Bombcast, I've listened to that regularly because of their discussions. Usually lasting between two to three hours per episode, the Bombcast's appeal comes from the crew's discussion on games--impressions, critique, news, etc.--and the wild tangents they go on. here's a fantastic moment from last year. The Bombcast personality-driven, just like their website's other content.

I haven't listened to it in awhile, but Radiolab is an absolutely fantastic podcast. Their 60-minutes-esque take on personal stories revolving around science, philosophy and technology are truly engaging.

The faulty video card hasn't been replaced yet.

The fabled 3TB External HD hasn't been found yet.

The custom Windows 3.11 thingy was put on hold.

A bunch of useless sheets have been thrown away.

and a broken fan was given the hammer treatment.
