Hell, I like that. What could possibly go wrong?

Uh, what would the category be, though? "This game has unrelated game data / graphics"? Would stuff like this or this count?

"This game has [duplicate] data from another game", maybe.

I'd say your first example (South Park episode) wouldn't count, because the developer probably intended to include that. Second example, containing content from another (unrelated?) game, would.

Basically:

- Data has to be from a game
- There has to be no good reason for it to be there (i.e. if game A used a few sprites out of an entire included bank of Game B's graphics, it wouldn't count - that'd just be standard unused stuff, maybe?)
- Earlier versions of things would count, and should probably be mentioned on the original game's page too

Basic category guidelines, for now. Others can adjust as needed.

One thing that makes me "hmm" is stuff like SMB3, which apparently contains duplicate unused copies of a few PRG banks in the unused space of other PRG banks.

So this wouldn't count either? It's not game data, but it snuck in there for some reason.

(I've stumbled upon lots of games with similar stuff, and it fits more in this theoretical new category than in "unused text".)

It's not always data from games - I remember (and I don't know if these are on the wiki or not) two games for the Watara Supervision that contain large fragments of outdated Microsoft API documentation and some IBM software disassembly, for whatever reason.

What about games where it used dummy data to push the data to the outer edges, like https://tcrf.net/Honoo_no_Takuhaibin ?

I'm trying to make a distinction in the sense of "data probably left from a previous ROM burn thanks to the wonders of chip reuse and free space" and "stuff the compiler jammed in from memory" (like file listings or documents), if that helps anyone catch the distinction I'm trying to make.

I think maybe "this game contains leftover junk data" might work well enough. We can elaborate more on the category page itself, but basically any data that was not intentionally added by either the compiler or a developer would count.

Anyone knows the exact address I got to reset to $00 to avoid the Ortah crash? I have a save-state only run (yeah, I never remembered to actually save the game) that is stuck on that crash and would like to fix it =/
