Re: Krystal and Galdon:

even in some of the videos Sabre uses Krystal's audio and GUI, meaning Krystal was finished first (which makes sense, since you play as krystal first) so those screenshots are probably from earlier, from before Sabre was finished enough to use.

I agree with you completely. Compare Kyte's voice clips with those found in MPEG - they're quite different!

If you observe the houses surrounding the left. It looks like a map of Diddy Kong Racing (Greenwood Village?).

Somewhat off topic, I remember the official DKR player's guide book (I think it was?) had a map of Greenwood Village that showed some bananas behind a building, but there was an invisible wall blocking the way to actually get there...

I checked the prima guide and didn't see it, must be the official one then.

have we found any files from the menu yet? I'm really curious because in this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gxUq2w_fiA#t=7714

you can hear music on the menu that i've never heard before.

also something i noticed while perusing the old archived DP website is that, on this page, they use the same title image style as the menu in the game!

Just a heads up. For those wanting to still play this in Dolphin, there has been progress in getting the game to work in newer revisions. You can download one of the development builds on dolphin-emu.org (4.0-4941 as of writing). Dual core works perfectly fine for me now, and most if not all of the graphical glitches "exclusive" to playing this version are gone. Now all that remains are the graphical glitches that are common in this version as well as the final. The performance has also been improved tremendously, so I advise checking it out.

I recommend grabbing the Ishiiruka-Dolphin builds (or download them from directly off of MEGA from here). Most of the performance issues attributed to the game are caused by the great number of times the shader has to be compiled, which causes massive hitching in the frame rate even if your hardware is capable of running much better. This can be greatly reduced by using the Full Async Shader feature present in this build. This feature isn't present in the normal development versions of Dolphin, but it's a great feature to use in games especially like this.

It can cause more graphical problems, however. But it will make playing this as well as the final version MUCH better. I still highly recommend using it.

EDIT: Not sure if this was mentioned before, but if you finish the Ice Mountain part of the demo and return to the title screen to select Thorntail Hollow you start out with Tricky and the staff. While the opening cutscene when you first arrive at Thorntail Hollow still plays it doesn't seem like you can actually advance to the rest of that section in the demo normally because you already have the staff.

Notice the screen of Starfox Adventures in the background, in the top-right of the photo...

A different icon for Fox than the one in the screen primarily being photographed... One that I've seen before, and another I haven't.

Notice also how it says "Fox Status" on the upper left; implying Krystal was still a playable character in this build perhaps? I also wonder which build this is, as I've never seen this exact HUD before. Very interesting!

the one in the far right looks to be the parchment-background Fox icon which was among the assets ripped from the N64 files earlier in the thread;

As for the image itself, i've seen it years ago while looking through screenshots from an old IGN page on SFA:

The portrait of Fox and the "Fox Status" is removed as well as the second energy bar (for tricky, i assume) and adding the gamecube face buttons at a later point in time, leading to a few screenshots circulating that look like this:

Then the C-Stick is removed from the GUI, the Scarab counter becomes another value that hides when not needed, and the Energy bar is flipped into it's final look and direction.

Finally the X button is removed from the GUI, the quickspell is added to Y with an indicator, the energy bar's Staff GUI is added, and the health bar no longer resizes to show the current heart.

only changes i can tell between then and retail release is changing the health hearts to red, changing the maps/adding the utility GUI w/ d-pad function, and i'm not sure if the indicator above targeted enemies was added in this time or at some point before.

AND ANOTHER THING to add regarding the racing town map sections that were found earlier:
DP was originally a DKR adventure game hybrid

I seriously wonder if we can somehow contact a key ex-Rare employee who worked during that timeframe and actually do find that.

from what i know, some people have contacted Rare, but nothing came of it. Apparently there was a demo cart but when rare employees last tried it, around '09, it didn't work, and that it was thrown out. Apparently, all the game's assets are on a computer at a Nintendo HQ somewhere. I've also heard, sometime in 2010, that a private collector somehow has DP (i have no idea in what form) and is waiting until its "safe" to share it, but there's nothing to back this up.

Maybe try contacting someone in cahoots with nintendo? nintendo is much more likely to leak games than Rare is so thats a good thing. I don't think Rare even even owns the rights to DP any more so your best bet would, again, be Nintendo.

RE: rights to DP, the trademark expired over a decade ago;

http://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=75479235&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch

Also, unlike Banjo-Kazooie and -Tooie's trademarks, these were filed by rare themselves, not nintendo.

also, i believe the ownership of Krystal's likeness (don't remember which, cat or fox) has been up in arms for a while too.

also, none of the individual Star Fox games have trademarks, only the Star Fox brand.
