Good riddance, maybe now we can get a service that is actually available in all countries? I have been rather sick of club nintendos bullshit of operating in EU but arbitrary excluding certain countries from the service. I thought with the mark of them opening the US branch that they would fix that, but that never happened! :/ ____________________ Start 9 |

I was thinking it would be sad news but, if they are replacing it with a new service, then its finally time to start things the right way. The whole Club Nintendo thing would seem like a good idea, but it doesn't take much research to find out that it needs a better integration with the 3DS and Wii U (which is, hopefully, something they'll add in the new service). It was outdated, and I'm happy that it'll be replaced by something new, except for:
Originally posted by Nintendo.com I feel like they could add a way for old members to transfer their coins to the new system, but oh well, at least you'll get those cool downloads/gifts as a prize. Its not sad for me, because I never used the thing, but mostly for other people. Everyone better redeem those products and spend those coins or else, they might miss a lot of cool stuff. Originally posted by Lunaria Yes. So much yes, if Nintendo is smart enough to do that. Once I first got my Wii (in 2011, yeah, kinda late) I was very happy knowing that I could win prizes by redeeming the codes of the games I bought, but then: "only on the US" Really? *sigh* We have to recognize that Nintendo is sometimes dumb (is the names of their new consoles any indication?) and they can re-release it again only on the US and nowhere else. If that happened I wouldn't be surprised, but majorly disappointed. But hey, we can at least hope, right? Riiiiight? ____________________ "I'm that guy who runs away sucessfully, and hasn't watched anime in like forever, I know, I know."--RanAS Thanks to Rambly, who let me borrow one of their old post layouts. |

| I have several un-registered product keys, and it would otherwise be tempting to redeem them now that it's at a "use it or lose it" stage.
However, there's just one little thing that they did with Club Nintendo that convinced me to never entertain their little gimmick: they revealed and distributed Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! without any notice for Platinum accounts, never giving anyone a chance to save up for it. It's as though to say "Well hey, he DID tell you to join Club Nintendo, now didn't he? Oh well, now you're losing out." Incidentally, the Mewtwo cutoff date for Super Smash Bros. happens to be March 31 as well, so at least there's one thing to keep an eye on before it's too late. |

Originally posted by Peardian Honestly, Club Nintendo Europe was terrible. Sure, neither CNEu or CNNoa is CN Japan, but trust me. You got it much better, as someone who's used both extensively. You could only buy things that weren't like gift wrap or a handful of stickers unless you bought and redeemed $1000+ worth of games. Plus the catalogue was the only thing the EU club Nintendo had - they never did the annual Gold/Platinum thing that Japan and USA did. For comparison, to get that Pikmin Tote bag you would have to register 12-15 retail games. Iunno about you, but that's a good 2-3 years of purchases for me. And I'm in Australia where the star costs of items is roughly half to 2/3 that of UK/Continental Europe. To get the Yoshi backpack you'd probably have to devote every single purchase to it since Club Nintendo EU/AUS opened (2008 in Aus). The free games and platinum/gold rewards yearly is an absolutely fantastic thing and puts CN USA so far beyond CN Europe that it's not funny. So much so I'm now trying to figure out which handful of VC games I want off the NoA CN. |

Hmmm, Xenesis, perhaps you can answer some of my queries? I'm trying to figure out if CN EU has downloadable games, which is not something I can see. In fact, the whole thing is very scarce of anything. And since you have experience with both, can you redeem the codes from EU games in the US version of the program or are they region bound? Since that would also solve what I am to do with all of these pamphlets I have. ____________________ Start 9 |

Originally posted by Lunaria At present, there are no games on the CN Europe catalogue. Club Nintendo codes are region restricted too, moreso than the actual consoles/games. CN Europe codes will only work in European regions and aren't interchangeable with American regions. I don't know if CN Europe and CN UK use the same codes or are unique: I do know that you can't use CN Europe on CN Australia for example. Either way, CN Europe more or less shares the same catalogue so if one region gets downloadable games, the rest of it should too. Pick a country and register an account ASAP, I guess? |

I already registered for the UK one. But I recall having looked into their stuff in the past and not seen any downloadable games. And with with the influx of new stuff in the US region that just happened, I don't see anything similar in the EU one. :/ ____________________ Start 9 |

| Yeah, the catalogue update for Europe hasn't happened yet even though it was promised for them as well as the US/Japan. |

They said they'd add stuff to the EU one for people to spend their points on too but... that never happened. :/
Let's hope their new reward system is not as garbage as the Club Nintendo have been for us in Scandinavia. ____________________ Start 9 |
