As much as I dislike Hatred, that's some bullshit right there. I'm waiting for the inevitable "but games like this might encourage violence in reality" crap we've all dismissed a thousand times over.

I wasn't looking forward to the game either, but it's strange that the removal happened so quickly on Greenlight. I mean look at Running With Scissors with their Postal games (1st and 2nd on Greenlight over a year ago or so) and Valve allowed Postal to be Greenlit and distributed.

This bothers me for the simple reason that Valve is not willing to actually fix up their service where it actually matter, but somehow they have the time to do junk like this. Which, furthermore, will only give the title more press, if it were to sit and wither away on greenlight without ever getting a release on steam, like most other games in there, no one would give quite as many shits.

I just watched the trailer for Hatred. I'm kind of not surprised that it got removed from Steam Greenlight but I can't seem to find the actual reason the game was removed. I'm assuming it was removed for being too violent or something along those lines. I'm not sure I'd ever play it but I disagree with its removal if my assumption is correct. I think it's a good thing to push boundaries.

Besides, censoring a game like this will only create more publicity for the game.

The thing is, since Steam is a fully private company-- It's up to them what they want to sell.

So if they personally think it's not worth selling they can dump it.

It most likely has to do with this.
TL;DR: Several members of the development team are associated with various Neo-Nazi groups, and also the Devs used the Unreal Engine logo without Epic's permission.

Which the former sums up my thoughts perfectly. The violence is fine (Even though it's quite clearly going for a terrible "LOOK AT HOW EDGY WE ARE GUYS!!!!" vibe.) But the fact the devs are actual Nazis is completely inexcusable, and i completely understand why Valve wouldn't want the game on Steam due to that reason.

Postal (At least every game after the first, but the original was never put on Greenlight in the first place.) mostly plays it's extreme violence for laughs. Not to mention it had incredibly low quality graphics even back when it first came out.

TB talks about this, and I agree quite a bit with he says on the subject.

Kinda makes me think there was some finnicky rich person who said "If you don't take this game down, Valve, then we will withdraw our backing". Later, when the Streisand effect sunk in, they said "Wait, this is miserable publicity. Put it back on."
