Waffles are better in my opinion for a few reasons.

1) The pockets hold butter or syrup better than the flat pancake surface.
2) The waffles are usually better in texture.
3) Waffles have a better shape.
4) You can put ice cream in between waffles and the waffles don't break or anything, and it still tastes great.
