I need someone who can go inside an iOS game. The game name is Boom Beach. I just need some unused things so I can make the prototype page of it, which I can't do without the main page. PM me if you can help and if you find something unusual in the game.

You can have a prototype page for a game that doesn't have its own article yet. Whether or not there's a main article doesn't matter.

As for Boom Beach itself, you could try researching and if you find a credible source telling you that there's something there, put it on the Content to Expand page.

I might just put it on my userspace for a while, I finally have a laptop now so I can upload pictures.

And having a prototype page of a game that doesn't have its own article yet can be hard to find, unless someone puts "Proto:Boom Beach" in the search bar, which is unlikely to happen. Divingkataethewierdo told me to just wait for something unused to happen so I can make the main article.

I already found a prototype released in Canada before the worldwide launch, and I actually put it in the Content to Expand page.

But do iOS updates that add new features worth mentioning?

Thanks anyway.

I'd argue yes, since we have a ton of 3DS revision stuff already. Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS has a downloadable update that adds a feature, so the iOS stuff is pretty similar in nature.

Thanks, so the main page will be flooded with updates. I won't cover the ones that only fix bugs though.

Technically, all of the 3DS game revisions we've been covering are patches for retail games. We haven't covered any 3DS download title updates at all, and there are too many of those to even count. I specifically made a note of discussion in the 3DS section of the Content to Expand page about it. And since iOS games are similar to 3DS download games...

So we should only cover revisions of iOS games that came out on cartridges? [/sarcasm]

My point was that 3DS download game updates are so dime-a-dozen that I question covering them, and I thought likewise to iOS game updates, because they're similar.

Bit conflicted. It's like a grey area because TCRF typically covers revisional differences of released games (on whatever medium they were delivered). Nintendo has rolled downloadable updates into later cartridge releases (as was the case with Mario Kart 7). I can't say if this was done for games like Style Savvy Trendsetters or M&L Dream Team.

A few pages I've read (like Dream Team and Pokemon X/Y) are change logs. It's a good outline to start understanding Nintendo's patching system, do they add placeholders for future updates, etc.

Then it becomes a debate on whether content included, but not used, will be available in future updates. Then I start thinking of games like Team Fortress II on Steam. I think there may have been instances were assets were included, removed, and then eventually patched back in and used.

Some aspects make games almost "alive" ... hate making TCRF sound like an obituary. I guess the worst thing to be is speculative and articles should be corrected if changed.

Given the nature of 3DS updates ... they're only a handful. iOS games get updates for circumstances like newer devices and versions of iOS, which may or may not include changes to assets.

Just to answer the OP's original question. If the game's free or have downloaded the .IPA file, renaming them to .ZIP and extracting them should produce some results. There also should be applications available to see and modify the user directory of your device (unless Apple's closed that in newer iOS revisions). I used to do that on my non-jailbroken iPhone to get modified gamesaves on my device (like Sonic CD and GTA series).

Maybe TCRF should start taking into account this kind of updates separately? Like, don't put them in the main articles because they may not be significant, but still keep track of them in case that in the future some of these updates end up being proven important (and then can be added to the main article). It'd be needed to be actively keeping track of those changes since otherwise we'd be unable to roll back to them.

Sadly, with nearly every game doing that now, it seems to be impractical.
