It's okay. I'm firmly entrenched at my 12,000 posts, so you can take as long as you like to get to 7000. ;p
More seriously, this forum is probably never gonna be full activity again. Real life(tm) is just simply too distracting for most of us to post like we used to here.
However, you're close enough. Much more vast is the distance between me and Xk's postcount, such that I'll probably never cross that distance.
It really is a shame, I was hoping that I might someday hit 5000 posts. I remember thinking that 744 days between my 3000th and 4000th posts was bad, and now here we are about 1000 days after that and I've only made another 253 posts.

Yeah real life's been a bitch, but now with a job change, I feel rather refreshed and ready to make more posts and be as active and dorky as I ever have been! And I mean dorky even for here.
The other job was sucking out my soul. I'd quit entirely but I'd like to keep one day a week for some extra "just in case" money so there's that.
I also haven't been here 'cause one of my buddies has been visiting for the last few days. We had a lot of fun, yup yup.

Forums, in general, seem to be on the decline as sites like Reddit become more and more popular.

At the risk of invoking "they said that about imageboards, too," what are the chances that reddit's going to slow down any time soon? It's still growing rapidly enough for the company behind it (whatever they're called now) to hire more people for staff purposes and I haven't seen anything come about to replace it.
I like the ideas provided by the layout concept of reddit. The site itself has the same issues any multi-million user open messageboard has, but the concept is cool. I miss forums dearly though. Forums and IRC.
Good times.

Well, yeah, they said that about imageboards, too.
They also said Facebook and Myspace would replace everything.
Truth is, everyone chooses their preferred medium. The big flashy ones are liable to take away potential new users and distract old ones, but they seem to die down every 4 or so years, causing a sort of renaissance here when it happens.
The trick is growth isn't sustainable forever and new things steal mostly from other new things, impacting the oldest things less and less as time goes on.
Granted, that's because the pool of users to 'steal' becomes smaller, but small silver lining at least.

There are ebbs and flows to everything. Maybe it's not gone, maybe things are still on a resuscitator until something comes along and brings people back here. And then we can relive our glory days!
Until then, I'll still stick around and be my lazy self. *Sips lemonade*
Meh, I wasn't there during the 'golden age' of forums. I didn't even have an Internet connection back then (read: before 2008, but even then I wasn't into forums until 2012-2013*).

R.I.P Jul.
I mentioned this in the IRC already, but i'm generally surprised at how unpopular this forum is considering it's linked to TCRF. TCRF gets more or less featured on a Gaming Site once a month (Special note goes to Cracked, which every single article featuring it has over a million views.), and it really feels like that would help bring in more users. Hell, even the official SEGA forums (Which i used to post on.) have more people using it, despite the fact most people would probably have moved on to Sonic Stadium and/or Sonic Retro.
Though, with the general modification of the sidebar so it now makes it much clearer there's a message board for the Wiki, i feel like maybe Jul will start gaining some steam next time Cracked mentions TCRF.
