Can anyone suggest me some good freeware or abandonware games? I've been dangerously bored lately and I can't find anything to do at all

The above is an excellent suggestion.

Also, Fraxy.

I've always been a fan of the old early-'90s Apogee/Id Software platformers (Commander Keen, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Crystal Caves, Secret Agent, Duke Nukem 1 & 2, Halloween Harry/Alien Carnage, Hocus Pocus...). DOSBox should be able to handle all of them without trouble.

Clean Asia is a fun timewaster. Cave Story is great too, and there's a cool submarine game called "Invisible Vision," where you chase down enemy submarines based on the ripples in the water.

Ω > U
Jetpack, Squarez Deluxe and Scorched Earth are always worth the DOSBox's time.

EDIT: Squarez Deluxe you'll need to scroll to the bottom for. Off-site linking prohibited there.

Another round?
Mikko Oksalahti also has done a few good games. Try them, I loved Pakoon 2.Many which is basically downhill skiing with cars

Cave Story is definitely a way to go if you haven't played it yet. Other than that, Knytt Stories is cool to check out if you like a relaxed feel, and also The New Satan Sam if you like ridiculous difficulties.

http://www.fileshack.com

If you're willing to look around and create an account here, there's plenty of licensed games that are freely downloadable for PC (Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Rayman Raving Rabbids, etc.)

There's also plenty of free MMO betas.

EDIT: Fixed.

Cave Story is fun, but doing the hard play-through might result in damage to anything nearby. This is also true if you mess up a hard play-through, and get a forced normal play-through...
(They call it hard for a reason D: )
The normal play-through was a lot more fun for me. :/

The Crayon Physics Demo is pretty fun, too. It kept me busy for an hour or two.

Kumoon's also good too if you like mucking around with ragdoll physics.

You should get the Engine used in Tribes, like how you guys modify Roms, I modify PC games.

For example, those of you who know me as "Nagis", know that I helped mod this.

<object width="425" height="355"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bbU38ibldeA&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I forgot what the engine was called at the moment, but its freeware, and very easy to mod.

Fixed, it's a .com domain, not .org

I don't know why I put this here.
Civilization 1 and Colonization.

'nuff said.

Tyrian and Cave Story are still your best bet for awesome games/time-wasters. Tyrian loops forever once you beat the game, and Cave Story has at least 2 different paths for playthrough.
