Schezo Layout Rev. 4
I've been jumping around on TASVideos lately, and I find it interesting there seems to be a push for "Arbitrary Code Execution" runs.

I don't know why, but I bet rules will be made at some point to restrict these kinds of runs and only publish "entertairning" runs.

Let's see how much time will it take them to remove the fun.

I hadn't heard of this until this very post and it's my new favorite thing.

Remember this?

The development of the hack is pretty slow, but it's still going... oh boy if it is. Although I had to up the difficulty of the levels and make a better use of gimmicks. Making most of the later levels less linear somewhat worked,

And still, almost every GFX is still a placeholder.

Anyway, I may release a demo or something in the near future...

I always love looking through those videos in general. The time and effort required to pull off a good TAS is huge but I always wonder how people pull off the ACE runs. Like how the hell do people figure that shit out? Like what the hell are you supposed to look for to pull them off? The best ACE runs I saw involve SMW and Yellow Version. In SWM, the runner made the game play pong. In YV, the game played a tune from MLP. It's some crazy stuff.

Sofi, do you actually have a camera like that or are you simply saying that photography is on your mind? The only reason I ask is because I used to have a camera model similar to that with the rotating screen. I swear I used hate that since it felt so mechanical. I was always nervous that I would twist the damn thing the wrong way and bust it off. The camera used to take compact flash which feels like an old technology since most cameras seem to take SD cards now. The only time I used to get into photography was when I was into astronomy. It was fun setting a long exposure time so that I could capture pictures of the night sky. I even took some pictures of the moon during a lunar eclipse (though they came out kind of crappy if I recall).

That particular camera was on my mind, which at the time I didn't own but now do. It does indeed take CompactFlash! I got it for a photo project I'm about to work on over the summer.

sigh

This is the second time I'm trying to set up an Apache Server with PHP to create a local server between the two computers I own, and possibly install PHP and MYSQL.

The easy part (that is, making Apache work on the current IP address) is done.

Trying to make PHP work is what made me give up last time... oh wait it was MYSQL crashing when trying to edit the users.

I wonder how will this turn out.

KLayout v3.1
Thinking about a good background to use for a custom SMW level.

That's it, really...

The hack I'm referring to features a "catch the reference game" with "gems" of level design such as this thing.

If it comes to that, ACE Videos may become a new subset entirely with its own dedicated website.

I think to the contrary, TASVideos will become ACEVideos and forbid normal TASes.

TASVideos has always been against entertaining runs--they of all people want nothing but the fastest, no matter what the cost.

Though that said, they used to split things between ACE and TAS--the problem is that ACE is both useful for ending the game quick and also for doing random stuff. It's an open question as to which specific subset best fits their orthodoxy...

But otherwise it's pretty clear they'll rule in favor of whatever allows the shortest and most boring videos to win, only making an exception to perhaps draw it out a teensy bit more than 40 seconds (though in less popular games, they can and will just accept a 30 second code exploit to win as the one and only run allowed.)

I just wanted to share this image of my two favorite old men talking. In the middle is photographer William Eggleston. On the right facing away from the camera is filmmaker David Lynch. I don't know the woman on the left.

I was watching a Vinesauce stream, and apparently Chrome thought it was a good idea to put this as the new thumbnail for YouTube.

Why?

I haven't looked at it in a while, but this page doesn't exist anymore (as the website died).

What was that about? How early versions of Windows use the palette.

And then I remembered how useful the wayback machine is.

Ah, yes, the Wayback Machine. I actually used it for the first time just last week to see if I could find the earliest version of the Wario Land: Shake It! website. Turns out the earliest backup they had was a few months after the game was released...

Heh, the most important thing of sorts done with the Wayback Machine was about the old toastytech.org website.

Lots of things were cut after May 2010 (and I thought that they were lost forever, until I knew about the wayback machine).

I have a local mirror of the website with the old content restored, because why not. example image
