So I saw something similar on reddit somewhere and decided to make a wishlist for E3. Basically I added every announcement Nintendo could do that I'd love to see (no matter how far-fetched) and assigned it points depending on how much I would love that. I will assign a number that represents how many points Nintendo needs for this E3 to be a great success in my eyes. Once E3 happens, I'll figure out how many points Nintendo got and measure up how they did!

Zelda U has open world / gameplay is not linear à la ALBW: 60 points
Majora's Mask 3D: 50 points
MM3D Has Master Quest: 25 points
Original Zelda for 3DS: 60 points
Zelda Four Swords Adventure for U: 40 points
FSA supports online co-op: 50 points

New 3D Mario Game à la SM64/Sunshine (big world exploration): 70 points
TTYD-like Paper Mario: 40 points

Pokemon U à la Colosseum: 40 points
Pokemon RBY / GSC for 3DS VC: 20 points

GBA games to 3DS VC: 40 points
SNES games to 3DS VC: 40 points
DS games on 3DS eshop: 40 points
Gamecube Games for Wii U VC: 25 points

To win: 150 points
Max: 600 points

It might also be fun to speculate on the possibilities of each other's wishlist entries!

Announce a new game that is a new IP: 1 point

They won't even get that because I already know what Nintendo will do: talk about another "classic" game being re-released, virtual console of older games, maybe another game that plays like a previous game of the same series with MAYBE one gimmick that is either underused or overused, and Smash.

But it doesn't matter what I say since it is the same shit every year with this, so of course I hope that things are NOT about things we already played or know about. Knowing Nintendo, that is highly unlikely.

Also you are already going in thinking Nintendo has won E3 without considering anything else? That's unbelievably biased.

I agree, it is super biased. It's obvious that Sony has already won E3, not Nintendo.

In all seriousness, I'm not going to make a wish list for Nintendo (or Sony or Microsoft for that matter). It's cool to theorize what the companies could possibly reveal. It's something else to put together a wish list of stuff you hope a company to reveal. That approach is just too optimistic for my taste and can lead to let downs. I'd rather take the pessimistic approach and just assume that all the E3 presentations by each company will suck (and therefore nobody "wins" E3). That way, if the presentations actually do suck, then I'm not really let down by it. It only goes up from where I stand.

Team Ninja did a really great job on Metroid: Other M; I don't know what crawled into your lederhosen. I'd be more concerned if Nintendo appointed franchise director Yoshio Sakamoto were involved, because he's the reason Other M sucked so hard.

Looking past the cutscenes (which admittedly took up like 80% of the experience), Other M was a solid game to play.

Pick one.

Frankly, both the story and narrative makes no sense in relation to the gameplay. And considering the game is about to give narrative to two characters who have previously not had much (Samus and Adam.) it fails badly to deliver on that front. Providing your narrative with stiff monologue is terrible in a medium like movies, even worse in games. (You have so much more to work with.)

The general gameplay is more like a decent action game than anything metroid, so sure, it can be a decent experience. But frankly, I'd not consider it solid or good by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm sure I can get plenty of games in the third person action genre that are both better, as well as one that does not ruin an already established franchise.

Frankly, I don't think Team Ninja is the sole reason the game was bad, but they are also not a company that is well known for delivering great narrative in their games, at least not as far as I know. It was a mistake bringing them in for this project considering the aims of it.

I'll go hunting sources if you like, but it's been established that the narrative was Sakamoto's project, not Team Ninja's. Team Ninja handled the platforming mechanics and presumably the level design, both of which to me felt like a spot-on, 3D version of Metroid Fusion.

If Other M's story is what irks you, that's entirely Nintendo's handywork, not Team Ninja's.

As a Nintendo fan I'm not actually going to look at Sony and Microsoft's presentations, it's not like I even have the money to buy more than one console. So when I say "win E3 for me" is "did Nintendo's presentation amaze or disappoint me?" and has nothing to do with how Sony and Microsoft did.

Well, it's not that optimistic! It is a wish list, but we're all aware that most of the things on it are unlikely to happen, that's why there's a "win score" (in my case, a bit over a 6th of the total points) which is what I would find to be a great and successful event. I think the scoring also let's us see how much other people desire to see some things relative to other announcements.

Uhh, remake or VC? Because I have Zelda I on the 3DS.

And for me, seeing some Wii U games would be nice. It doesn't exactly have the greatest library right now. Honestly, I'd barely call it a library. I'd love to see a new Metroid, but I highly doubt it. Other M was so awful that I doubt they'd consider it for a while, if at all. Seeing some more of those two new Zelda games will be great though.

Yes, I meant a new and original Zelda game. Hopefully with a very well fleshed out story during the "the Hero is Defeated" split of OOT, preferably the latter part, after ALBW. Or perhaps a prequel to OOT taking place during the unification war. Maybe both, in the form of Zelda U and a new 3DS Zelda

The gameplay was pretty mediocre, to be quite honest. It...works, but it's nothing special and certainly nothing compared to the pedigree of the other 2D Metroid games.

And yes, the plot was Sakamoto's fault, but mediocre gameplay + offensive plot = bad game.

Yes, I know very well that it was Sakamoto who handled narrative and team ninja who handled the gameplay, therein lies the problem, and it's also where Other M falls apart. In a good game narrative and gameplay are not two separated things, which is what they are in Other M.

The goal with the game was to deliver a narrative that would appeal to the japanese market. (If we are to believe what has been said.) As well as fleshing out two characters, as I mentioned earlier. So obviously you would want to team up the narrative guy with a team that is well versed in how to marry gameplay with storytelling. Since it's metroid it's quite obvious that it would be an action platformer of some description, even from the get go. This would in turn make it quite tricky to deliver a heavy narrative... unless one are experts at it. While sure, you can asses that it was Sakamoto's fault that the narrative sucked ass, the fact that the story that exist is told in a horrible manner shows both a lack of skill as well as a lack of teamwork in how to deliver a narrative, and I doubt Sakamoto did all the calls in the aspect.

If I was told to pick a team to make a narrative heavy metroid game with a story from a third part, team ninja is probably one of the last places I would. Since, from my perspective, (Not that I am well versed in their more modern products.) they are not very good at delivering narrative. Obviously I think Sakamoto is out of his balls with the entire game and the narrative he wanted to show, but frankly, that's my opinion on the story. What I'm trying to lift forward here is the technicality. Team Ninja would have been a pretty good choice for metroid (YMMV) if it was to deliver a metroid experience like the other titles.

Anyhow, enough of the derail maybe? :s

I'd love to get a new one, DoR/DC was great, though I prefer DS, but considering it was never even released in Japan, well, let's just say I doubt we'll so one any time soon. Nintendo is not exactly well known for wanting to make games that don't appeal to the Japanese market. :/

There is no question in my mind that Nintendo is going to "win" E3 like they always do for me, simply based on the fact that they're the only one of the big three who actually have E3 conferences about games and not stupid multimedia shit.
