| I watched this back when there was only a few hundred people playing and watched the amount of people go up as time passed.
I found it interesting for the first few hours, but I lost interest as soon as the day ended. It's a novelty, but I don't find it very special. ____________________  |

| So I never cared about completing the Pokédex after about, oh, the time I got a GameShark to catch a Mew in Red and Blue (before I learned how to do it without a GameShark). I mean, sure, it's the archetypical example of what a modern-day "achievement" is (complete with quotation marks), but it's really rather cumbersome. It's a massive time investment, and in the end, you don't really get to keep it. I mean sure, it lasts as long as your save file does, but when a new game comes out, guess what? Do it over.
But then Pokémon Bank happened. You can put however many hundreds of Pokémon in there and they're yours to keep forever. They'll come with you when new games do. And the best part? They're floating out there in the ether, within easy reach, but all the while not clogging up the PC storage boxes. It's a fresh take on an old idea, and frankly, I find myself captivated with the prospect. It feels like this, but on a grander scale: 
The tiny little UI icons for each Pokémon really do feel like I'm putting together a sticker album. And it still has some empty spots. |

| Ug. I worked 12.68 hours of overtime today. But hey, time and a half! That's, uh... more than two days' normal pay.
And the best part? When I got home from work, there was a genuine copy of Pokémon Emerald sitting in my mailbox. More stickers for the album! |

| Well, actually, I was hoping I could I could get one of each. I have spare Porygons thanks to Pokémon Dream Radar, and in my quest to have one of every mon in the bank, I'll need three Porygons for the evolutionary set. So if you just help me towards my sticker collection, you will as part of the process fill out your Pokédex. |

Ah, alrighty. I'll have to grind some Battle Maison rounds for the Up-Grade and Dubious disk, then ^.^;
PLAN: I trade a porygon holding an up-grade for your porygon2, then i give the porygon2 a dubious disk, and then i trade the porygon2 + DD for the new porygon2. Would that work? ____________________

| I have an Up-Grade. If you can trade a Porygon holding it, I'll do the same right back at ya and we'll both have Porygon2s. You can then swap it out for a Dubious Disc if you have one, though I'd really like to get your items back to you if possible. |

| The Random Number God has smiled on me this day. Ordinarily, he and I share a playful rivalry where he tries to play the odds to my disadvantage, while I in turn game the system to force my will on the universe. But in this case, it was all Game Freak's lack of foresight, and the RNG took pity on me.
A reminder that I received Pokémon Emerald in the mail just days ago. See, I've always been a fan of Breloom. Although Poison Heal isn't around in Generation III, I still love the design and the moveset available to it. I mean, come on, it's a Grass type that focuses on Attack rather than Special Attack for a change. It's just that it's one of the Pokémon that appeals to me. I made sure to grab a female Shroomish in Petalburg Woods, since I hate hate hate HATE the fact that every Skitty and Delcatty in the game are female, have Cute Charm and know Attract. That's one of the ways I game the system, you see. Having learned my lesson from Diamond/Pearl about relative levels between wild Pokémon and the Pokémon League, I went for my usual "just use one Pokémon for the entire game and rack up the Exp" approach that I developed for Generation IV. And, of course, that Pokémon was Breloom. I probably could have thought it through a little better: Breloom is one of few Pokémon that levels the absolute slowest, and being Grass/Fighting, it's particularly weak to Flying types. Like, oh, that Gym Leader Winona. Another thing I failed to take into account are the Mossdeep Gym Leaders Liza & Tate, the Psychic-type specialists. That's a double battle, you see. And my one Pokémon happens to be weak to Psychic. Nothing like taking two rounds of Psychic (the move) every turn, amirite? A quick attempt to have a go at it anyway met with failure, so I did what I always do in that situation and went to the Lilycove Department Store to pick up some X Sp. Defs. Hey, guess what? X Sp. Def wasn't invented until Generation IV. It's the only Battle Item that doesn't exist yet. Well phooey, I thought, so I picked up some X Specials instead. I figured I'd use Mega Drain on the Claydol, Lunatone and Solrock with some added boosts coming from my lowbie sidekicks. But then, as it turns out, unlike Potions and recovery items, Battle Items are always used directly on the Pokémon using them... And unlike ordinary double battles, this Gym battle doesn't have a situation where one of the two oppsosing trainers runs out of Pokémon. You get to fight two at a time until only one is left. The RNG saw my plight and gave me a helping hand. I'd selected Kecleon as my partner since A) I happened to have one and it's level 30 (the Gym battle is level 41), and B) Color Change will help it stay alive. During the battle, every single attack went to the Kecleon, and of course they were all Psychic-type, so it was able to survive. I was able to squeak out of that Gym physically (if not psychologically) unscathed. Karma will probably come back for me, though. From now on, I can expect to get Burned by Flamethrower on the same turn that Sky Uppercut misses, like usual. |

I had a prior arrangement with a friend to swap Xerneas with his Yveltal ^.^;
And I had a Hydreigon transferred from Black, bred it to get Deino heh. And after a looong day of exp. grinding... The Shiny Charm is mine! National Dex complete! 717 Seen and Obtained!  ____________________

 All I need is a Shaymin in my pokedex and it will be by all accounts complete! The dex in Black is complete, but my Shaymin was unable to transfer because my friend crossed the ocean to find it. Pokemon does not like it when a pokemon is caught that should be event only. So..... that's my fix.
Anyone want to back and forth trade for their Shaymin? I promise to be honest! ____________________ |
