Using my pak viewer, it's "WA", so I'm guessing it probably either references water, or Redmond Washington.

You should specify what game you are talking about. Not everybody knows what MP3 stands for in game terms.

If I were to take a wild guess at what this is, I'm going to assume this is a placeholder texture for the water effects on either Bryyo or the Pirate Homeworld in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Am I correct? Because otherwise I have no idea that this is supposed to be.

@Peardian, it's from the Metroid7.pak which is for Skytown, was do you recall any water from there?

I found a potential beta model in InGameDVD.pak, it's a low poly version of the Varia Suit morph ball. The reason I think it may be beta is the weird fact that it's the only lowpoly ball model, and the fact that the format is broken in comparison to the rest of the models, it has a header pointing to it's vertices!!
