Anyone pick this game up on a whim or something and play with it? I did. Magically, it was 12:30 in the morning when I stopped. This one snuck under the radar for me, since I heard nothing about it to begin with, but it's an RPG/Puzzle cross-breed. Best analogy I've found for it so far is 'Bejeweled meets Magic the Gathering'.

It's multi-console (I got it for the PS2) as well, so there shouldn't be reason that you can't play it aside from not having the -20- bucks to buy it new. Stat-building and use in something close to Bejeweled? It seems to work here, surprisingly enough.

I tried out the one for DS, and sadly, at the time I had no interest in sticking to one game (I had just gotten the flashcart) and I quickly deleted it. I may pick it back up, my DS has been getting dusty every few days...I just wish the game would pick up the pace, because it didn't seem to interesting in the first 15 minutes.

I had it, but then I lost it... Yeah,

I never tried it, since BMF and I judged it instantly by the publisher name (and price) -- "Infinite Interactive" just didn't scream quality, and BMF said it was basically a bargain-bin prize ($9).

If I find it, maybe I can give it a shot...

Oh my god, Kattwah's layout works!

Ah, I remember getting this game a while ago when it came out here. You know, it was really fun for the first couple of hours, and really felt like it was going somewhere. The story was actually somewhat interesting, and the whole "choice" thing was cool (i.e. choosing whether to "help" or "betray" an ally type thing, without spoiling much). The overworld also kicks ass - it's so awesomely designed, and there are a HUGE amount of towns/cities/outposts

What ruined it was two things:

1. Long ass battles. I mean, come on. I don't like fighting a giant rat and taking 20 minutes to kill it. Not to mention these things just happen to pop up between every single outpost.
2. The AI and unfairness. Come on. You can have the boss down to one HP, you are at full, and you will still lose. I've had it happen, seriously. The enemy will get a whole shitload of x4 and x5 skull chains, along with repeatedly smashing your head in with their attack to make you miss an enormous amount of turns. Yes, I am talking about Dugog.

Eh. It's fun for a while, but it kind of loses it's appeal. If you're into long battles and can put up with the unfairness, then by all means enjoy yourself.

It gets a lot better once you start getting the gist of it down. You really need to know how to go against the random generation on the moves. Most of the time you want to attack near the bottom than on top (especially around skull pairs) because then, as S.N.N. says, the CPU has a tendency to go into RAPE FSCKING MODE and do several moves at once because of 4 or 5 of a kind...but there are ways around it if you know what to do and how to act, sometimes committing, at worst, 5 HP damage to yourself for illegal moves so the CPU acts instead as a means of passing. Keeping mana on hand sometimes helps as well since you can commit moves that end your turn but help you out, so that's sometimes better.

I've got a level 12 warrior with a level 5 GIANT RAT mount right now...working on getting something better as well, since I'm really up shit creek for defense and healing so it's a matter of me doing a lot of green/red mana chomping with skull use. If I have enough and there's enough skulls to make a difference, I'll use Throw Axe (if not Cleave if there are more yellow stone in play and I have enough).

It's interesting, that's for sure.
