Have you ever had any?

It's kinda interesting to see how people subconsciously 'think' about them.

ADMINS:
Please change add this to the title "and unused stuff"

Had a dream with the SNES Play Station and possibly what I think to be Forteza, the only game that is actually in a playable state, a FMV Shooter game.

I actually had this dream of a Wario Land prototype from 1993, which had completely different layouts and different tilesets too. One of those reminded me of the SMB3 Fortress tileset, but I don't remember much of that old dream.

The wierd thing is that this flyer of the game actually shows that fortress tileset, but obviously not exactly as what I've dreamt. :/

Then there's the dream of "Interface Manager" floppy images, but that's off-topic.

I probably had a few more dreams about protos, but one from several years ago still sticks out: It was about some kind of Zelda OoT prototype (of course I had to dream about that), with the A+B Reversed interface if I remember correctly, where I was walking around a really tiny Kokiri Forest.

There were few buildings, just one exit that I can remember, and most importantly, the Deku Tree's grove was in the same area, on a lower level, and twice as big as the rest of the area - there was a spot with a fence from which you could overlook the grove, but I'm not sure how you'd have gotten down there. I think the scene had less fog than in the final game, too, because the Deku Tree was pretty visible from said spot.

Can't really remember any other dreams like that.

One dream I had was of a New Super Mario Bros. (DS) prototype, which was a sort of mixture between
this Mario 3 level and the early desert tileset.

A weird one was of a really cramped dark tower-type level (which didn't really exist until later screenshots) which had spike balls and a some sort of (equally dark) morton/boom boom creature as a boss (it wasn't in a separate room like most bosses).

Maybe not prototypes per se, but I do have a number of dreams in which I/someone discovers fantastic unused content hidden in the tiles/code of a great game. It's always kinda disappointing when I wake up and realize it's not real.

I just remembered how I got SNES Play Station in my dream:
Flea market. Where someone put it on sale for 20 euros, I was shocked and it seemed he didn't know what it was and asked him to put it on hold while I'll get the money.
Asked my mom to give 20 euros because that thing is just worth WAY MORE. Managed to do that and bought it.

Then I took a pic of it and put it on Twitter at home. I believe I got too much retweets.

And then I played around with the menu (A BIG SFC logo for the main menu with text in japanese) that had songs from SNES Test Program (and removing a save actually played one of the unused jingles, kinda funny).
And then I played Forteza, a SHUMP with FMV backgrounds and cutscenes. I did so much in a little timespan in that dream. Admit it's very disappointing when it's not real.

Ugh... speaking of why did that happen, the reason I had that dream was because of that flyer. Some of those screenshots looked so that different from the retail game it was just bound to happen.

It's easy to forget obvious things, huh?

Kind of a coincidence but I once had a dream about somehow obtaining a SMW prototype which is funny in itself because I have never even documented anything for SMW (SNES) on TCRF. It would make more sense if I had dreamed about some Zelda prototype since I have documented a lot of Zelda stuff but no.

Anyway though, the only thing about the dream I can remember was that Luigi wouldn't let Mario be selected from the map to play any of the levels. I'm not really sure what that is suppose to signify . Might as well call this dream SLW.

Another Zelda 64 dream (typical).
So I'm browsing some message board (Jul?), and someone comes up and shows all this stuff that they got recently. Loads of old diskettes and computer hardware. Like, old Macs and magneto-optical drives and stuff. And I was told the disks all had old Zelda 64 stuff, like trailers and screenshots and stuff.

Now, the trailers were really different. They started off in an early Hyrule Field, quickly cutting to a dungeon that resembled the dungeon from that old A+B screen with the Wallmaster. During this, an announcer said "This is the beta! You've never played this before!" in a strange, almost "Don't ya know?!" kind of voice. Was also spoken quite fast.

Actually... the voice was almost the same as the announcer from the '80s NES commercials.
Yeah! It was the voice from this commercial!
Still said in a strange tone of voice though. Like, "This is the beta!"

It was a quite fast paced ad, flipping through the clips as the announcer spoke. I don't remember much clips from it actually.

And there was a variation, with different clips.
It started from an early Lake Hylia. I don't remember much but it looked like the A+B lake. Then it started going through different clips, mostly of outside areas. I think an early Market was shown, that was similar to the A+B market, but with more gray brick walls.

It was the same script, but there was a different announcer.
The exclamation at the beginning was almost news intro-like, with every word being spoken broadly.
This voice was again from a '80s NES commercial. The end of this one.

-------------------------------

So, along with the trailers and screens, there's a whole bunch of unmarked MO disks, of which we don't know the contents. So the original owner tried to get it working, but failed for some reason.
eventually they loaned it over to someone who was more capable, but they failed as well.

For some reason, it was eventually handed to me for the same reason. So I'm now on a street that looks kinda like my street, but with more buildings everywhere. I meet up with this guy who had the collection, and I accepted the collection, with a quite hammy speech which I can't remember

So now I'm in some sort of office that looks like it's out of Half Life. Weird openings in the walls with conveyor belts. Quite strange.
So I get everything set up and start trying to get it working.
Eventually I give up and go do something else.

The next thing I know, I'm walking into a store, and a bunch of people are around me, thinking about it. They were talking about networking. Like getting the voltages and phases correct and stuff.

Then I'm back in the office, working on it. I'm trying to reverse engineer the system that it uses to boot MO disks. Apparently, there's a computer where you actually view the pictures, that's connected by a coaxial network  to a computer with an MO disk reader.

So you put the disk in, boot the computer (which looked a lot like this when booting), then boot the other computer, and it should start.

Apparently, a flatbed scanner also had something to do with it, but I don't remember. I just remember scanning something green.

So after all this, I stick in an MO disk, boot the machines, and to my surprise, a playable Zelda 64 boots up. So I spawn in an early Hyrule Field, just like the ads. You could run around but not much else. There was debug information all over the screen.
There was a HUD but it was just a static overlay.

So I sit there, stunned. I look around, noticing another monitor in the corner which is playing the old trailers for some reason. I smile.
And then I got woken up.

I don't have dreams like this very often. It makes me wonder if we'll find stuff like this. Seems likely. Kinda like how the SNES CD stuff was found.

Recently I had a multi-part dream. One part of it was about tracking down the company who made a NSMB demo cartridge (Yep, New Super Mario Bros. again.). Strangely, it was made by a company other than Nintendo and its office was some kind of haunted house. The house didn't actually contain any ghosts, and there seemed to be no reason for me to be scared. I ended in a claustrophobic factory type room, which contained "the boss" of the company.

Meh, I recently had this unfortunate dream (and more recently, the unfortunate thing of actually remembering it, ugh), where, in short, I managed to play an early prototype of SMB (where, among other things, the every level had a "clouds" tileset, Goombas were missing and there were no powerups for whatever reason) only for someone else to break it with no hope of fixing it.

Let's just say I wasn't really happy to both dream that and then remembering it.
