Today? How about forever.

Also I dislike how this video doesn't in any way shape or form touch upon the bystander effect.

Which is you know, a very interesting concept concerning bullying and emergencies.

OH WELL.

Videos like this make me quite empty actually. Where has the society gone these days?

Anyway, it's still nice we see at least some people doing the right thing instead of just passing by or not even saying anything.

I mean, there may be some other reasons why people don't do anything, like not wanting to get into the mess or being timid, but still they could have handle the situation better.

Anyway again, this video is an interesting experiment I approve.

Oh also, what if someone doesn't help out?

Maybe former bullying have made you stressed, giving you a defensive mechanism to just want to not involve yourself.

Maybe you're extremmly socially anxious, another reason not to want to involve yourself.

BUT NO.

LET US FILM THEM.

ESSENTIALLY INDIRECTLY CALL THEM HEARTLESS COWARDS.

AND PUT IT ON THE INTERNET.

BECAUSE I AM A GOOD PERSON THAT STANDS UP AGAINST BULLYING.

FUCK ALL OF THIS

Thinking about this after reading Girlydragon's post made me open my mind. Not sarcasm.

You've made a good point, but we still need to remember although this is an experiment uploaded on Youtube, it could still happen in real life with no joking, and the disastrous consequences that follow.

There's a *lot* to be said about the topic.

The most immediate consideration is a fight or flee consideration. Am I likely to get punched in the face if I get involved or even just stay around? If so, walk slowly to the side as if nothing happened. Being virtuous is easy as long as it means no pain on your part.

Even so, if you were in that situation you might doubt how much you could actually contribute by intervening. At best, if you don't get punched in the face, the bully may back off this time, but the bullying will likely continue later. The problem is not solved on the individual level, for people you don't know. I.e., relatively big risk for relatively little benefit. In principle, it has to be solved on the administrative level. (Obviously, if you're a friend/acquaintance to/in the same class as the bully, you would have a greater chance of changing their attitudes.)

"It's never that simple."

Umm... it seems I wasn't clear enough. I'll write it short and (hopefully) clean. I meant something along the lines of:

Let someone with more power intervene on this.
But people always complain about cops these days... for both good and bad reasons.

Y'know, as much as seeing a bullying incident would cause my primal rage to want to smash objects into the bully, I'd probably just sic the police or something similar on them instead. Tends to involve 10,000% less fines and lawsuits that way.

Exactly what I wanted to say.

This way (you hope) nobody else gets hurt. Although that's implying the victim didn't get hurt. :/

This is a terrible video. They hardly demonstrate anything and the videographer just lacks the focus to make his point without shoving himself into it. This video’s message is diluted by its self-importance. Also, if you’re fighting and there’s a camera nearby, of course no one’s going to care. Especially if you’re at UCLA, for chrissake.
