Hey Americans, how’s Thanksgiving going for you? Let’s talk!

Did you cook? Did you hang with friends? Family? What were your favorite baked goods? Do you have any funny stories?

I just made a pretty normal meal-sized braised bottom round steak with potatoes and now I’m baking some cookies. Today’s a low-key day for me, kinda. My big food day is tomorrow when I cook macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, turkey drumsticks and more! It will be so exciting. :9

Two families always means two big meals that me and my brother have to attend, which always amounts to too much food. This year was no exception. The second meal we had featured no less than ten different desserts.

We just had a little family dinner here at my grandparents. The traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. I made my spinach and artichoke dip and for the third year in a row, it was gone before the turkey hit the table. This is a fact I'm proud of, since I don't really cook often. X3

Then my uncle came over after dinner with my aunt and cousin and we talked for a bit. It was nice, I don't see them as much as I'd like (and will be seeing even less of them soon).

Outside of that I just did a lot of packing.

We bought a turkey almost completely pre-prepared, just move it straight from the freezer to the oven and bake. But we're saving that for Christmas, and instead we reserved a table for four at Black Angus, and all four of us had their traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It was pretty swell.

Then the next day, my brother flew to his new residence in Kansas.

Well, to be fair, I did sort of do something that day (how could I have forgotten that? see below).

I have stayed with some relatives that day. I don't remember much about it (that says something), but I do remember I ended being pretty tired at day end.

It might have been just a coincidence... or not...

I didn't cook for thanksgiving, and I also didn't get to eat turkey (there's turkey in Beijing? where!?) but I still managed to eat some Peking Duck and other Beijing food with a group of students (arranged by my study abroad program here). My program handles only American students, so naturally a Thanksgiving dinner was in everyone's mind.

MCD is Michael Curry Design, the folks I work for. They payed for the catering.
Blackbird Catering are the folks who made and brought/set up the meal.
