Been digging through more GBA games and found some very interesting stuff including another example of how a debug menu has more content than the game itself. Also, starting the Super Mario Advance 4 (Japanese version) dissassembly project in hopes of finding that debug menu. There is also unused music from the E-levels in the US/AUS versions.

A debug mode with more content than the game itself? I love when extra content pops up in games that is either never used, or from an entirely different game/development period. Looking forward to more info!

Also, apparently there's a large amount unused song info/tracks left in GTAV's game data.

http://www.gtagaming.com/v/radio-inconsistency

I haven't looked over the article fully, but if it's legit, it'd be cool to add it to the wiki at some point.

It looks like every Sega Model 1 (and possibly 2) arcade game has a hidden developer message.

Probably the most impressive SGB find in a long time. A game with a fully programmed border and palettes. All I had to do was set the main command routine to 0A. Wonder why these were disabled.

Does "Navi" ever appear on the A button in Ocarina of Time? I may have found an unused texture.

I'm starting to think that, at a certain point, Nintendo might have pushed towards removing any kind of Super Game Boy support from their licensers in order to force their more reluctant costumers to choose the Game Boy Color as their choice for playing, well, Game Boy games in color.

(crosspost from sonic retro)

Hey guys, remember this?

The now famous text that's shown in Space Harrier that says "MANY MORE BATTLE SCENES WILL SOON BE AVAILABLE" that the game puts up when you lose a life? After starting to check the 16-ibit games, I'm thinking this text isn't supposed to be there...

Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars has this

$$ CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ]] THIS IS SEGA;S LATEST GAME]]ABLE FOR VIEWING= ]] WE ARE SURE THAT YOU;LL FIND THE ]]ALEX KIDD

Fantasy Zone has this (!)

SORRY FOR THE LIMITED//NUMBER OF SCENES.// THE FINAL VERSION OF//THE SEGA FANTASY ZONE//WILL INCLUDE MANY MORE//EXCITING SCENES!]

It's only two examples for now but heh

None of these are actually used anywhere (though the coding for them might still exist); they are remnants of earlier demonstration versions (possibly location tests?) where you could only play through a fraction of the game. I'm guessing the same thing happened with Space Harrier, but they forgot to chop the message from the final game (and still forgot to in the alternate revision). (Possible alternate theory: they intentionally left the text there and moved it to where it is in the final game...?)

Nope only on C-Up, although some pre-release shots (and clips) show Navi on A.

In pre-release like he said, it'd say "Navi" there on A. It's blank in the final release but pressing A still sends out Navi, and the "Put Away" text is used then for Navi. Why'd they make it blank anyway?

Funny you should mention that. The texture itself is completely transparent, so it may be used for the blank A button.

Navi

I uh, don't know enough about Zelda hacking to put a modified texture back into the game, though. (I only found it because someone asked for my help with texture editing. )

I think I just discovered an unused Nintendo Gallery figure in Wind Waker. The model for Link & The King of Red Lions is vf_064, part of Figure2.arc. Included in the same archive is "vf_064l" and "vf_064s", which are the isolated models for Link and the King of Red Lions, respectively. There are odd things about them, though. Link's sword and shield are part of the boat model, and Link's model has the belt buckle oddly floating away from his body, with the same expression from the figure. Furthermore, Link seems to have his full rigging left, or at least all his bones are there. There are no animation files included to pose him with. My first thought is that they originally planned the model, but the shield makes me question that.

Any thoughts?

I know I haven't. And it's just now that I realize that Rareware's logo is the bottom-right corner of the letter R.
