I know it's not gonna make any difference, but copypasta aside, it's still a somewhat interesting comment, as it shows the current bugs/problems/"abuse possibilities" of this new comment system.

In any case, most of the "popular" videos have these types of comments now.

All this has done is make me glad that I split my Youtube Account from my Gmail a while ago into separate accounts. Especially because I don't want my personal email logged into things like the Wii U or whatever when I just use it for Youtube Videos and that's the only reason I have it logged in.

Google+ is pretty dumb (but so's facebook), but Facebook has the advantage of people actually wanting to sign up for it. G+ has been a pretty lame duck in comparison. I figure it'll get some use through the strongarm strategy they're going for here....but I don't see it becoming the new Facebook. I just see it languishing there like it always has and people just moving onto whatever the new 'social network thing' is once Facebook decays.

Honestly, it is a shame, but it seems as if beautifying computer software UIs to the max and then f*ing up the functionality is a rising trend with stupid companies and other things. Also, repairing things that aren't broken and then breaking it in the process is also a rising trend, it seems.

You just gotta love the new features Google decided to slip in within this recent update [/sarcasm] !This was my very 1st video on my 2nd Youtube channel (the first channel, um... let's just say got "destroyed"). When I posted it during early Spring of 2013, all I got was a copyright notice. I accepted the notice, and, when the video is played, links to buy one of the identified commerical songs from legal online music distributors (iTunes, etc) would display.

Now, after this update, I get that email, and now the audio for the entire video has been muted. The video was all about the music, dammit! This is why people cannot make creative things, because of copyright nazis who dispise creative use

(Here is the video in question. I'll post back in a few minutes as to what is in the Copyright notice page for this particular video)

EDIT: This may or may not be a new "feature" (that being of muting of claimed copyrighted audio). Basically the copyright notice said that several commerical songs were used (no shit), and that ,due to a copyright claim, the audio was muted. I think I am done with YouTube, permanently, and I'll just let the channel rot, and add videos to my website/blog with other video services outside YouTube...

Yeah that is an older feature. It existed at least before the Google+ integration. I got hit with a similar copyright notice back in either September or October on my video below. The reason for the copyright notice was for the following reason ""近藤浩治-ゾーラの里", sound recording administered by: 1:00 Nintendo".

Its funny though because, even though I got hit for what appears to be music copyright, the music isn't muted . The video still plays fine as you can see and nothing has actually happened to my account otherwise. You actually wouldn't even know the video had copyright issues unless you checked out the video statistics. From what I understand, I think that copyright owners can do this and make money off of videos other people put up. In this case, I don't really care since I don't make money on any of my videos. I have an option to either acknowledge the copyright or dispute it, neither which I have done. If I dispute it then I think that Nintendo would have to check the video out themselves and if they see the rest of my channel then TCRF is going to have A LOT of broken videos . I'm not sure what would happen if I acknowledge it so I have stayed neutral on the situation.

This video was partner promoted apparently. I'm not a YT partner but I think that it is ultimately funny that Nintendo is making money on a video and promoting the same vdeo that shows people how to gltch/break one of their games .

There is a reason fair use exists, that is to allow people to deal with content they don't own in fair ways. However, youtube in it's current form takes no account for fair use; which is a problem since that means even people who are making reviews and critique (Something which is very powerful under fair use.) also get it and unless they are in a partnership network there is no way around that.

Youtube is NOT a good platform for hosting any kind of content video, I have had copyright claims for content that is not even in the videos I have. This new G+ integration is even more reasons not to use the bloody thing. If content creators post their shit on another site and give me some way to subscribe to their upload feed than I am there. :/
But obviously, I know that's not going to happen since youtube is sitting with such a large userbase.

Incorrect. When Sega flagged videos for being Shining Force, some partnered channels were affected, some with two out of three warnings, and others with complete channel shutdowns. Partnered channels are also affected by Nintendo's shitty way of handling copyright, with them targeting a 3 hour video podcast and seizing all funds generated by that video because it had a 30 second trailer for Pokemon in the middle of it. If you have a Nintendo game video, partnered or not, expect ads placed right on it, and expect no money to be generated for you but for Nintendo instead.

Don't blame YouTube/Google for the copyright shit. That's bigger businesses taking control there.

The real problem lies in outdated and absurd copyright laws. :/


And yes, there are instances when partnered channels have been targeted too. But you're going to be targeted for a lot more and have way more issues if you're not.

With that said, YouTube is mostly just doing what they must so that they can stay safe and sound from legal repercussion. Not much you can really blame them for in that aspect.





On the actual not of the G+ integration, I recently watched TotalBiscuits video on the issue, and it seems like not only are comments with many likes prioritized to the top (as usual) comments with many REPLIES are also pushed further up.


If that is actually true then dear lord did they ever hand the center-stage straight to the trolls and flamers.

As far as I know, they have as much power to fight copyright claims against bigger businesses as we do: jack shit. When it comes to smaller devs, they have a louder voice and can easily call them out on bullshit if they flag a video for such a reason (such as TotalBiscuit had to handle with Day One: Gary's Incident, which the dev flagged his video and ONLY his video because they said he had no right to monetize his video while BirgirPall made a video about how shitty the game was and never got flagged). With Sega and Nintendo, for example, they can't do anything.

Pretty much. All you see now are a bunch of comments with replies about how shitty the comments system works, and from what I also hear, some people can't even comment on videos they uploaded, and you can't reply to a comment if it is days old.

Don't know exactly what the hell they were thinking here. They wanted more G+ integration and discussion, but instead you just got confused people wondering why this even happened.

That's actually a good question. I can understand (in a very loose meaning of the word) why they wanted to force people using Google+ to comment on a video. I can understand they wanted to do a "intelligent discussion" comment order, which fails miserably and it's the default choice.
But how could they mess up the reply system?
Especially bad when someone asks you a question in a comment, and you don't notice until, let's say, a week later. Then you find out about the comment, trying to reply but oops, you can't reply to him. You have to send him a message now, which is not how I'd like to reply to a comment.

On a related note, I originally thought the comment limitations on YouTube were hideous, but now I miss them. Let's say hello to spam! How could Google think this was a good idea, Google+ shit aside?

As I posted in another topic, the refreshing to replay videos thing is probably dependent on your ad blocker. Those moments where I was silly enough to load up YouTube without ad blocking enabled, replaying the video immediately called up another 30 second unskippable advertisement before the video would start again. I assume the attempts to play it with improper ad blocking results in the player sitting there, waiting for the ad you're not seeing to finish playing before it starts streaming the actual video.

Well, to get rid of ads, having the latest version of ADBlocker always helps. I can not browse the web without it, even on YouTube.
Another good extension is ByTubed, to download batch videos without ADS, but it got killed of from Mozilla Addons. :/

No, actually, this happens even if you have adds enabled and even on videos WITHOUT adds. Their player is plain up just broken.

I don't know if this is another plan from Google to force the rest of the "Classic" Youtube channels use Google+, but I'm starting to get problems when uploading videos.

It always halts near the end, with a message along the lines of "This video is taking more time than expected to upload. Please wait some more...".

Waiting hours doesn' help either. I had to upload the "Adware Endurance Match" and "Puzzle Bobble 2X Hidden Rabbit Character", plus another video I don't remember quite much to my MEGA account due to this.

While this has happened to me before, it would have always took less than ten minutes to "fix" the problems, but now it doesn't work anymore.

I wanted to ask to anyone here who still has a non-Google+ Youtube account if they can still upload videos, because if it's actually a general problem and it's not just me, then Google has crossed the line.

So, I've finally made a one-time Google+ test account, aptly named "Kak CoreaSixtyFour" and good lord this stuff is much more complex due to shoehorning all this Google+ crap onto Youtube.

Every time I think about this, it makes me feel even better not having updated my account. Simplicity no more!

I've had G+ linked pages for a while now and I have no clue how this is "more complex". Short of having a few extra links in the uname drop bar for managing the G+ account, it's not that much of a change.



And the channel pages still look the same, in fact, they're just slightly different thanks to how they display the current selection on your personal list to the left.

Ugh, I swear that page looks different from what my eyes witnessed when I tried it myself.

I'd admit while Google+ is somewhat useful, it's been shoehorned into Youtube a way I still don't quite
like very much. Note this comes from a guy who doesn't like (even small changes) very much, unless they've changed for a good reason (to the users, that is).
