As you probably know, Youtube have required you to link a google+ page or profile to your youtube channel, to comment.

Google's "in depth differences between pages and profiles" help page is dead.

So what is the difference?

Welp, I thought I couldn't make comments on video because Firefox 25 broke down (considering Firefox 25 broke Photobucket horribly, I thought it did the same to YouTube, oh well.

This is a load horsecrap, great way to force everybody to switch to Google+.

Now what? You must have a Google+ account to upload a video? Bah...

There are some petitions online to restore the original comment system... but we will see if they work.

Yeah I was mad that they forced me to get a Google+ account way back when. I hate the fact that I have to manage something I don't even want to begin with. Then there is the fact that comment notifications are given through Google+ now. Its inefficient to manage two different accounts. Its so stupid since I never plan to use Google+ for my YT account. Its space that Google/Youtube could actually be using for something. I was happy enough to be able to upload videos on a single YT account.

I'm doubting that. Google seems to have this fetish that Google+ is the next best thing since sliced bread and will probably do even more to merge the accounts in the future. Honestly, I hate Facebook and I hate the fact that Google is trying to become another Facebook with Google+. Then it just irritates me how they are jamming Google+ down everybody else's throat.

Until they force me to have a Goggle+ account to upload a video, no way I will ever accept having one.

In the message that pops up sometimes it to choose between a Google+ or Youtube account, even if you click the Youtube option, there's some tiny little text that says "A Google+ page will be created". Nice try.

I have always pressed the X that blends in with the title color, then "Okay, we will ask you later."
REMIND ME LATER, REMIND ME LATER, it's almost like you struggling not to activate a Rogue AV.

Anyway, I can live without comments, right?...

I can't even comment anymore, because Chrome prevents some of their javascript (hosted on an HTTPS domain) from enabling the comment form (which is HTTP)

Also, their "helpful" video explaining the changes shows a demonstration as to why you would want to make a Google+ account.

One being someone else can leave your name in a comment and it'll alert you when they leave your name on a video comment, and it is easier to do so if you are part of their circles.

This is just getting stupid.

I uploaded a video today. Never signed up for Google+; in fact, the only reason I have a Google account is because my old YouTube account turned into one somewhere down the line.

Also, the obligatory "lol" at internet users freaking out about some website making some rules about use of its own self.

The problem is that those rule changes are designed to force people to sign up for a service they don't want, that'll use their personal information in ways they don't want (Don't forget G+ still doesn't allow pseudonyms), in order to participate in what has been, for the last however-the-bloody-hell-long, an open forum.

It's Google we're talking about, so that's going to be expected.

Uploaded the full 40-minute version of my Bubble Symphony PS1 Playthrough. I can still upload long videos, I can still use the test page and the developer API. Still no Google+ Account, and I'm PROUD of it.

This is getting to levels like what Nathan Lineback is doing to avoid IE.

Screw comments, I am only going to upload videos for now on (if at all), until the rules change/that petition goes through. Where can I sign up for the petition?

All of this really P.O.s me. I have never given a shit about Facebook/Google Plus/other "mainstream" social media and do not belong to them, because I wish to keep my personal information private. Not because I have anything to hide, but because its the sane thing to do. The last thing I want to happen is some idiot "friend" on FaceBook/Google+ to upload nude pictures of themselves or something inappropriate, and then a future job employer finding it and losing job opportunities. It is just a matter of reputational managment.

Honestly, this current Google+ bait-and-switch tactic with YouTube is essentially a trojan horse to join, and social media is essentially a method to promote insane extroverts to post their life story online for the ntire wurld to cee, government and employees included. Honestly, with stuff like this, and the leaks, our society is quickly approaching either a "1984" or a "Brave New World"-like society, IMO. Shit is getting scary!

I am also PROUD to not have a Google+ account!

The only top comments I get to see are like this:

"This new comment system sucks! Bring back the old one!"

Well, the fact you can just click once to show all the "comment reply chain" is good overall.

The Google+ shoving is not.

Youtube comments are horrible anyway, filter or no filter. I'm glad to see people being put off using it.

Having Google stuff it's Google+ balarky in your face is really just a tradeoff to having a large video sharing service like Youtube at all. I guarantee you that no other company in the world will be able to keep Youtube at it's current rate going as well as Google are, that's not to say I don't think forcing people to be give out personal information about themselves isn't evil though.

I remember when doing so much as give out a last name to feel incredible risky before the days of social media. Now most of the general public's addresses and telephone numbers are just a google search away!

I actually saw a comment that was just it saying "I had to share this here" with a link to the video it was commented on. The replies were just that person's friends from Google+, since they shared it there and it automatically posted a comment.

Why should I care about this conversation? How does that benefit contributors on YouTube at all?

Youtube would be the least of everybody's worries if Google+ becomes required for everything ...

In wrath against Google and this YouTube and Google+ intergration, yesterday I uninstalled Google Chrome and replaced it with FireFox, and even changed the IE search engine accelerator to Yahoo instead of Google. I am also thinking about deleting my entire Google Account, and migrating data from my other Google products to better, more user-friendly, privacy embracing, alternatives. I am also thinking about moving to something else, instead of YouTube.

FUCK SCROOGLE, CENSORSHIP, AND SCROOGLE MINUS!

At the time of this writting, the petition I mentioned about has almost met its quota of signers. Right now, it has 27,118 signers, and needs 7,882 more, in order to reach its 35,000 quota. Sign it peoples!
