So, BioShock 2 uses SWF (Flash) files for its menus. I didn't know that.

I found something pretty strange in the menu folder: "CheatMenu.swf"

I tried looking for info about this online but found nothing other than torrent file listings. I dragged the file into a browser and a broken menu popped up. There's a bunch of options but they all load placeholder text.

I opened up the file in notepad for the hell of it and there's a bunch of text related to cheats in there. The way they're worded it sounds more like a debug / test menu than an actual cheat menu (spawn ragdolls or characters, give weapons, etc.) It's pretty strange.

Hex editing and decompiling it is probably a better option than notepad.

What I always wondered: Did someone tried to fight any of the mini-game bosses of the PSX version of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" like N-Ya, Cameo and Death-13 as characters, which you actually was NOT supossed to play as.
It would be an interesting find, if any of the mini-game bosses end up having proper reactions to Alessi's de-aging attacks or other similar oddities.
In other words, I would like to know, if a character modifier for the PSX version of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" exists.

Obviously.

But the game is now using Steam to track achievements and there's no way in hell I'm going to muck around with the game if it's going to screw up my account somehow. D:

I'm pretty certain Valve only cares if you're using a hacked game in online multiplayer.

Yeah I use modified executables through Steam all the time and have never had any trouble. There are a lot of executable replacements on the official Steam forums and now in guides, too, you'd think those would get pulled down if anyone had a problem with them. (If anything, Valve's support staff is probably happy they're there, given how well-supported some of those games are by their developers now.)

http://oldgamehacking.com/?p=468. Did some more investigating and found that there is a full-fledged screen/CHR set viewer and an additional screen setting viewer. Going to add them later. Also, going to upload the Panel de Pon music, because this is very interesting. There is also a GBC only screen that has a palette.

Wh... whoa. Panel de Pon GB. PLAYABLE. To an extend.

Man, this is an awesome find!

EDIT: Just booting the game in non-GBC mode and then pressing A 24x and B 24x works too, also gives "better" colors (= none; grayscale)

Looking at his initial find a little more reveals that this uses a modified version of the GBC Bootstrap palette setting used in Tetris Attack/Yoshi no Panelpon except appearing slightly more yellow. Looking at the unused music tracks to see what else there is, maybe more unused panel de pon songs?

Some quick notes:
To play Panel de Pon Game Boy/SGB, use Game Genie code 1F0-3AB-91E. C0E1 loads music ID

Thanks for checking out my site ^.^
I was planning to post here about some of my recent finds for the Game Boy Color after I was finished looking through the games.

Until then you can see most of it starting from this page:

Feel free to add whatever you wish to The Cutting Room Floor.

A sound effect of Luigi screaming in Luigi's Mansion with some eerie music.

Seems to be one of the first sound effects and similar to the one that plays at the end of the E3 trailer.

yes they are NTSC/U codes
they were made using real hardware and a gspro and i use real hardware to play my games so i'm unsure how any psx emulators work.

Wow, so the game works just fine on GB and SGB, but insists on having GBC?

Not quite... The game itself is GBC-only, but using a code you can access a hidden GB-only mode. It's actually a totally separate game, of sorts. (It also starts up and returns to the debug menu every time, but )

Finished adding the rest of the info. The current GBS rip also does not contain the Panel de Pon bank.
