I found this in Kirby 64.

The date seems to read 10/30/98, so this was two years before the release. Apparently the animal friends were supposed to be in the game.

Sweet! If you think about it, now it really makes sense as to why the Stone+Cutter ability transforms into statues of them.

Fantastic find!
Who knows, maybe the models for the animals are still in the game

While this is definitely a cool and awesome find, I don't think it necessarily entails that these animals would make a reappearance in the game. Some more research into the matter, like the models or potentially searching for names in the game's various internal lists, would be a good next-step.

And how about data for playable Waddle Dee, Adeline, and Kirby-less Dedede?

I can't think of any other reason they would be featured on teaser art for the game.

It kinda makes sense, if you think about it, since the ability-combining system is like like the next step after KDL2/3's ability+animal combination system.

That might explain why this is in the game.

I think that actually relates to what I mentioned.
