I looked at some of the older threads and noticed we haven't had any of these threads in a long while. Was it because of people were tying too often due to not so much activity or something else? I think it would be interesting to continue them again, but I am not too sure on what everyone's view of them are nowadays.

The forum wasn't really active enough to continue supporting a ranking thing so we axed it. Maybe it'll come back if all the newbies (and olbies) around here prove to be as active as they've been lately?

It encouraged some to spam more for that "rank" more often than it encouraged quality posting really. But more towards the end we stopped getting those kinds because they'd get scared off rather easily. And so we were left with less active posting and poor Colin hitting a button every day just to post depressing lack-of-activity news.

The "it encouraged spam" thing was always bunk (and even in the rare cases it wasn't, the people spamming got what they deserved...)

It's just been too quiet to support it for months and Colin's been too busy to bother, especially with how silent things have been.

Plus it served as a place to commentate on that days's activity/spree. But there isn't too much spreeing nowadays it seems. I wish I could go back like 5 or 8 years.

That page only does daily rankings, not the monthly running totals that were done by hand.
