http://tcrf.net/Proto:%53onic_Mega_Collection

We've run across a WTF.
EX Jinsei Game II material in a version of Sonic Mega Collection.

Any ideas what went on here? Common dev team members perhaps?
Final games were released a year apart, separate platform and companies.
Weirder yet this Sonic proto is in English. Not Japanese.

Also amongst the ripped textures are ABXY button textures, hinting that this would have been released on the GameCube as well. Could there have been a team at Sega porting EX Jinsei Game II to the GC, but had gotten scrapped in favour of Sonic Mega Collection?

EDIT: There seems to be more over at Sonic Retro.

I'm guessing that there might be shared developers.

There is something similar with Densetsu no Starfy 4, which shares some graphics relating to Galaga. On a closer inspection, it turns out that Yasuhiro Minamimoto of TOSE and Morihiro Iwamoto; a composer for every Starfy game, who is very likely from TOSE as well worked on Namco Museum Battle Collection for the PSP.

Yeah not much else makes sense in context.
The related GC game who did come out was called Special Jinsei Game, not sure what's different about it.

Both Jinsei Games were made by this company; it might turn out that they also worked on Mega Collection? Will need to compare credits with that video...
