I kind of regret not making some kind of "Wolf in sheep's clothing" joke when I created the Super Noah's Ark 3D article

But then I'd have to, you know, touch the Super Noah's Ark 3D article

(I guess I might as well at some point though, since I was going to look for those button codes like two years ago)

This is weird. I put in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and it tells me "There is a page named "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" on this wiki", and yet the second page it suggests to me has exactly that title. What gives?

Are you trying to go to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 page, or are you trying to search for the page title? I don't know why MediaWiki adds that extra reminder on the search page... probably to make it more obvious?

Oh, I'm dumb. First, I clicked Search instead of hitting Enter like I normally do, and then I read it as "there is NOT a page named..."

Ignore me.

Is there any way we can force a cache flush when a new version of a file is uploaded? People keep reuploading the same file repeatedly because they're still seeing the old version afterwards. Even I still get thrown off by this sometimes...

That's what the "Last-Modified" HTTP header field is for, but I don't know if MediaWiki already sends it for File: pages or not (or how closely browsers actually pay attention to it)

I think he's talking about the internal MediaWiki cache, which you can purge by appending ?action=purge to the end of any page URL. I asked on freenode #mediawiki and got

[18:49] <marktraceur> pietro10[my nick on freenode]: I think bd808 is working on the underlying bug, or at least has some thoughts
[18:51] <bd808> pietro10: I am working on an open bug for that purge problem. No promises yet on a fix date but it's high priority to get a handle on it
[18:51] <bawolff> pietro10: yeah, hopefully the issue will be fixed in some future time.
[18:52] <bawolff> pietro10: If you can't force a purge, there's various more complex work arounds listed at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Purge

In the meantime, you could probably do this either by hacking MediaWiki directly or by writing a dummy extension to do it... but it's likely not worth the effort

DuckTales Remastered has a couple of unused songs inside.

In the original game a separate tune played when you got a game over and got tossed back to the title screen, in the remake you simply go back to the level select room. Thus, m_gameover and m_gameover_NES, which are the original Game Over song remastered and NEs version, don't get used.

m_stage_himalayas is a beta remix of the Himalayas stage, this one got used in the Himalayas postcard trailer but a different mix is used in the final game.

WF_Logo_Music_Standard is one of the normal WayForward logo songs, probably used till the final one(which is mixed with a DuckTales melody) was made.

Lastly, m_transylvania_NES_beta is the NES prototype's Transylvania song! Developer easter egg?

... oh, speaking of easter egg, supposedly pressing space(in the PC version at least, which is jump) in the first version of the game on the Stage Clear screen made this appear. It got patched out, sadly.

Throw that into a Revisional Differences section, too funny not to document (duckument?).

I'm downloading DK Jungle Beat right now so that I can poke through the models. Expect maybe some things.

Edit: Nothing that I can see yet, but I'm very impressed by the organization. All of the files are cleanly and properly labeled. In fact, the most interesting thing is the internal file names. Every level has a name for it, such as "The Nest of HeliBird" or "Infernal Zoo". Also, the bosses have names, too.

Dread Kong = Dread Kong (hurr)
Karate Kong = Konfu
Ninja Kong = Miyamoto (!?)
Sumo Kong = Akebono
Ghastly King = Final Kong

Not natively related to TCRF or its wiki, but at Pax this year, Gametrailers had a panel. Not surprising. But what was surprising was how many questions were related to their Pop-Fiction show, which goes about detailing some of the rumours, unused content, or dropped content of our favorite games. Some of the questions specifically were "What things really made your jaw drop?" or "What was the most baseless rumour you ever had to investigate?"

http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/8r7ezm/pax-prime-2013-pax-prime-panel

I thought it'd be interesting to share. It'd be cool if some sort of collaboration could be worked out between the writer for the show, especially for providing some of the research, analysis, or discussion this wiki is known for.

Hi TCRF members,I find Unused level in 2008 the punisher mame arcade game via cheat finder system, maybe tcrf seen before me via scroll test or debug menus.Unused level is really beautiful level, plane hijacking gunman hijackers their boss is JIGSAW.Also I found a enemy only for running in scenes never fight with charcters. It is unused for fight in game but he have their own moves punch, kick, jump and laugh. He is famous villain Bruno Costa. My idea also many things unused in the punisher arcade. No body write a wiki on The Punisher Arcade Unused data.
My question Why TCRF not found unused material The Punisher Arcade?

I found a small discovery in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, but since there's no page for it and it is hardly worth making one for, I'll just put it here for now.

The placeholder texture for the solid shiny candy blocks in Sweet Paradise is an embossed Nintendo logo. The texture for the small solid blocks is an embossed DK emblem.
