438 years in the slammer...

How the hell do you do that? Houdini can't do that...even David Copperfield can't do that shit. Do you hope that you find the prick's supposed immortal soul in the next life when he's a kid and jail him then?

So what happens to the other 400 years when he dies? Maybe he gets let out early due to quietness.

The legal system is rather silly, isn't it?

I'd just say "the rest of his life," but I guess there's always the micro-miniscule chance that he'll actually live for over 438 years and kill again if given the chance...

You know what? I get it now! He's been genetically proven to have regenerative abilities, and after time, his cells stop aging. I wonder why his name isn't Adam...

I've watched too much Heroes.

Maybe he's taking into account that cryogenic freezing is a possibility like Demolition Man was.

But that wouldn't come into play, because technically, he didn't actually live those 400 years.

Isn't there some odd legal technicality where a "life sentence" is really 20-30 years, so these outlandishly long sentences are a way to make sure that they're actually in jail for the rest of their life?

I've never seen the point of having sentences be that long. It's quite obvious that a person cannot live that long unless they live in pre-Noah's Ark times where everyone lived to be 600+ years old. He's gonna die after maybe 50 years in there if he's lucky so what's the point of the rest of them. Maybe they're keep his skeleton in a cell until 2445.

This is the one post that is accurate. They use multiple-life-sentences to make absolutely sure that the person won't get back, even with reductions because of good behavior. After all, sentences can only be reduced by what, 15% for good behavior? Even if they loosen that to the EXTREEEME, they'd need to knock 90% of the sentence off for him to get out in his lifetime.

Maybe they will transfer the skeleton to another prison so that he can serve all 438 years in jail .

438 years? I could understand if it was a life-time sentence, but did they have to add an outrageously large number to fit the amount of years he will spend in jail?

It makes the jail time seem like more punishment, I think. To me, "438 years in jail" sounds a lot more intimidating than "a life sentence."

I wonder if people have noticed that he was convicted on 19 different counts, one of which is rape. The sum of the sentences per count adds up to 438, not just rape alone.

It'd be totally illogical to have to charge someone 438 years for something like rape, but with all those other counts that he's facing, it's no wonder the number is so high.

I don't know why I put this here.
I guess it's to prevent him from being paroled, yeah. There's not much of a reason otherwise, as no human has even lived that long in their entire life. Maybe a Tortoise...

To be fair, to get 438 years for each of those 19 crimes, that's one life sentence per crime or thereabouts. ._.

Probably deserves it if he's committed 19 crimes of that calibre.
