I need to rip the Super Mario Sunshine music to a standard (lossless compression or none preferred) file.
So far, I ripped the music from this video, but that probably has some compression artifacts and more importantly cannot be pitch-changed.
This video is very interesting. It claims to transform a song into a .midi file, which can be pitch-changed and time-changed very easily. Unfortunately, he does not provide a download.
And how do I extract the files from the game? wszst can't seem to handle sequence.arc . |

| For games that sequence their musics rather than play back a waveform, I've found just about the easiest way to get it right is to record the program's audio output and save that instead. In some cases you may need to make modifications to prevent sound effects from getting in the way, but it's generally a lot easier to do that than to try to figure out how the music files work. |

| I ripped the music from the recorded video (OK quality) and then pitch-changed it up one half-step for the third-lap music, and then sped it up about 15% (all in Audacity), an then the sound got really crackly. That's why I need the MIDI converter so bad. |

I know some people have looked into the sequenced music format it uses, but I don't think anything solid has really come from it. However, somebody must have, because VGMusic has at least one, if not two, perfect midis from the game, including Bianco Hills. The only reason I suspect that it might be a rip is that the Delfino Plaza midi is almost exactly the same as the one used in Super Mario 64 DS, but was made August 2002.
Even if the Bianco Hills midi isn't a perfect rip, though, it's so spot-on that nobody will notice otherwise.

Nahhh... No custom soundfont? How did that guy do the custom SFX?
For the first one, the main melody is an octave too low, and the sounds are rather odd.
Edit: It's just my side, but still the sounds are not the same as the orig. game.
The second one is just... horrible.
I'll stick with my ripped video... if that person will let me. |

Well of course it's not going to sound the same. It's a MIDI. Even if you ripped the notes from the game directly, you'd still end up with a MIDI. You'll have to rip the instruments from Sunshine, or find someone else who has ripped them.

Actually... A quick Google search found out that there's actually some software that can rip the SFX from Sunshine.
I'm not doing it, though. The PAIN!!! I'm not spending months assembling the original SFX into a .sf2 file. Not worth my time.
Edit: [End laziness.] I managed to extract all the audiores .aw files. Which file contains the Bianco Hills sounds? I think it's wScene_2.aw, but I don't want to spend hours trying to piece together an incorrect .sf2 file. |

I've contacted pongball and figured out a few things:
1. The music is probably not ripped. Still OK, as it sounds practically perfect, except for the sounds.
2. There might be some error in that version.
3. wScene_2.aw is definitely Bianco Hills. Now to match up the seemingly random pitches, figure out which sounds are which, and learn how to use Polyphone to assemble the ShitFont2... |

Hey... did you manage any progress with the soundfont?
I currently use Chorium Rev.A with AIMP3... is not the original soundfont but sounds superb. |
