The first line of the Japanese text corresponds to the phrases "at this time" and "by Konami" in the above sentence. Please don't assume Google Translate is correct, especially with Japanese.

I wouldn't use such a literal translation in most cases, though. I'd choose something much more natural-sounding, such as the current translation on the wiki.

"Kono tabi wa" is literally "at this time." "Konami no" is "Konami" followed by "no," which is a possessive particle.

"wo" is the particle used for verbing things. "Okaiageitadakimashite" is the verb for "to buy" sandwiched between a lot of really polite word attachments to inform the purchaser exactly how grateful Konami is, followed by "te", which changes "okaiageitadakimasu" into the gerund form of "okaiageitadakimashite," coupling it to the next sentence.

まことに、ありがとうございます。
"makoto ni" is essentially another intensifier -- "really," "truly," "sincerely," words like that. the last part, "arigatou gozaimasu" is "Thank you."

Now, if you put that together in literal translation, it'll look like a mess. "At this time, Konami's "TMNT: The manhattan project" you bought our humble game sincerely thank you so much." That isn't really legible. So, you rephrase and rework and make it make sense. And that was way too much Japanese information in one post, but I felt like explaining. Derp.

Maybe if you leave them in the original order. English relies heavily on word order to be comprehensible, and Japanese grammar tends to put words in the wrong order for English.

As an example, here's what I get when I chop up the same sentence as before into parts of speech. (If you don't like grammar, feel free to ignore everything but the numbers.)

[1. adverb as topic] [2. proper noun as adjective] [3. proper noun as direct object] [4. verb in gerund form] [5. adverb] [6. verb]

Now take a look at the same information, but for the sentence in English.

I ended up rearranging everything in order to get a sensible literal translation. (Additionally, some information changed from explicit to implied or vice-versa. Item 3 is explicitly a verb's direct object in Japanese, but that fact is only implied by word order in English.)

Bonus mode: Google Translate probably suggests "Thank you Konami" because the phrase "このたびは" is commonly used to start formal expressions of thanks.

To be honest, it's a little beyond my skill level. It'll take me a very long time to get anything sensible out of it if I do translate it. (I've read through most of H. 'axelay' Ueda's message. He mentions some hidden content that can only be accessed by beating the game without using any continues, but I can't figure out what the other conditions to access it are.)

Some of the emoticons in Ito-chan's message are corrupt, but I'll take care of that after it gets translated.

The fansubbers did it to themselves.

What I really mean is that most people volunteer here, and I think only few of us can read Japanese. We share an obsession with our work, like the subbers, but at a different angle.

To be honest, I'd just feel bad asking for someone to translate a block of text that huge for free.

It'd be interesting to see it, though. Thank you for translating it?
