Hello folks,

I've been meaning to make a page on TCRF about this for years, but I thought maybe I should make a thread about it here first, especially since I can't be sure if this is, in fact, unused content.

So: There's actually very little information out there about the original Bubble Bobble Game Boy port. The big twist on the game is that every 25 rounds, there's a boss fight. Namely, there's Cream, a giant springy-thing; Jam, a giant wizard (and quite the pain the the arse); and Choco, a giant fuzzy thing. After you fight each one (there's always a powerup that lets you breathe fireballs instead of bubbles), there's a cutscene in which a fairy gives you a cup, a jewel, and a crown, respectively.

There is, in theory, no way to skip these boss fights, and, in theory, only two passwords for Round 100: KZBJ (normal mode) and KZ5J ("super" mode).

However! If you enter a password such as KZLJ or KGLJ, you will start on Round 100, but defeating the boss will give you a bad ending, in which one or more of the cup, the jewel, and the crown are shown to be missing! Bad endings are, of course, not at all atypical for the Bubble Bobble series, but again, as far as I know there is no way to encounter this bad ending over the course of normal gameplay.

What if you take too long to beat the boss, does the boss die like many arcade games? Or how about warps, does the game have any?

Or maybe the bad ending is for those people that want to beat the game by going straight to the last level?

I think I used to get the bad ending from time to time by killing any boss, then waiting for the magic door to disappear (thus, not getting the required item for the good ending).

Actually, the boss goes into "hurry-up" mode of you take too long. And it doesn't seem to be possible to warp past them, either.

Ahh, that's the ticket! How profoundly unintuitive! There's plenty of time to make it to the door, and no apparent advantage to passing it up (unless you don't want to watch the cutscene, I guess).

Well, I'm glad I didn't bother making that page now. I guess this is not unused content after all.

Well, we do have entries for things that aren't unused but that most people would never come across. I would say this qualifies. (I found it interesting anyway)
