You need to associate the ROM Format with an Emulator, as in set up Windows so that double-clicking on a file of that type opens it in an Emulator.

TT64 works for me. BUT THE ROM EXTENDER AND THE TEXT WRANGLER NEVER WORK!

I have chosen the CORRECT ROM but M64ROMExtender doesn't work and says CHECKSUM NOT MATCH. And I had to use Cellar Dweller's extender (which I got from Acmlm's Board) to extend the ROM. Then I succeeded and I CAN edit it with TT64. NONE of my friends can use it, either. But many persons from English-speaking countries (I'm from China) say they all can use it. Why?

Open the rom in a hex editor and read the encryption from 20 - 30. It should say USEP RAMIR O46 (BADC) or SUPER MARIO 64 (ABCD). If it isn't coded in those two forms, then your rom isn't going to be able to work with the rom extender.

About TT64. It runs on a simple format or (ABCD). As for the Text Wrangler. The reason you are getting those errors is probably because you have in use the same thing in another program. I.E. TT64 is running while you use it.
That would cause the error that you were given. (Reasoning is that you don't want to save the text and then save your TT64 rom. You would then lose what ever text you put in, and the game might not run.

I have to tell you that the checksum IS coded in the 2nd form. I checked it when I first get this problem. And I checked it again just now.
As for the text wrangler, I'm always getting that error and only the text wrangler is using the ROM!

hmm... Thats interesting. Maybe I can see whats going on if I had your rom. Do you think you could send me a patch of your rom, so that I can see if anything is out of place or something?

No, I'm talking about checking what form it is in before you extended it so it could be used in TT64? If it is usable in TT64 then it is obviously ABCD form, but if it's not working in the text editor, somthing might have gone wrong in the middle of extending it. Because the text is automatically put in TT64, then if something is wrong in that area, it will still load in TT64, but not in the Text wrangler

Also, the ROM I'm trying to open in Text Wrangler is a new extended ROM which is extended with Cellar Dweller's extender. No modifications...

Ok. Well we solved one issue. About the text wrangler. Your using a different extender, so Like I said, some things aren't being read right. (If you read the error it says "Index out of Range") I am curious as to why this works in TT64 and not on Text wrangler. That is why I want to know if you can send me A patch for this rom that seems to be having the problem.

Hi, I've been using TT64 for several years and for some reason since yesterday i've been getting errors while loading levels. whenever i try to load castle grounds,haunted house,cool cool mountain,hazy maze cave,SSL,bob-omb battlefield,snowman's land,jolly roger bay,tick tock clock,rainbow ride,bowser 1 course,vanish cap,bowser's fire sea, bowser 3 course,secret aquarium, lethal lava land,whomp's fortress,castle courtyard, metal cap,wing cap,rainbow clouds, and tall tall mountain i get an error saying:

What would be the cause of this?

I open my ROM, and it gets a script error, I can't do my Major SM64 Hack is this continues to happen.

Initially tried posting this from my phone but it ate my entire post >.>

VL-Tone has released another version of TT64 .5994 for Mac that now includes support for (10.7) OSX Lion and (10.8) Mountain Lion.

Glad to see he's still keeping updates going, even with things like compatibility for operating systems when I'm sure most people think he's abandoned the project. Hopefully now I can use this to start my SM64 hack on OS 10.7.

improvement: wind? = red coin star in bowser levels. only appears, if there are no other red coin stars or wind?....
this red coin star doesnt warps you out, so its very interesting for custom bowser levels.
