Well, can't say I am surprise by this; But that does not make it any less significant.

Yup.

What we know as antibiotics now will probably all become useless in our lifetime.

We will need scientists, mad ones, unafraid to explore the potential of future medicines without having to pussyfoot around stupid red tape for years before even being allowed to test in a petri dish. That is what will help combat these potentially destructive bacterium.

Drug-resistant bacteria have become more prominent due to our use of drugs for every little thing, so let's use more. Yes. Nothing could go wrong.

Supergerms will kill us all, thanks to our modern everything-has-to-be-sanitized lifestyle that never gives our immune systems a chance to develop, and the existence (and ridiculous amount of power) of for-profit pharmaceutical companies.

They put antibiotics in me every time I had an ear infection. Over and Over again.

I sometimes fear that I may be a vector for new antibiotics-resistant bacteria. I hope none of them infect me. :X

I understand that we want to be clean, but I think we are taking it a little too far. It's not surprising that germs would eventually resist against known antibiotics, especially after constant usage.

Not to mention our desire to make everything super sanitary is actually causing allergies as well. If this trend continues, the future is going to be miserable.

They did this to me too, and it just led to me becoming allergic to penicillin.

Luckily, they thought I was allergic to Amoxicillin and gave me some more expensive alternative. As a result, the cheapest, first-line antibiotic hasn't been abused in me, so if my diseases have evolved a resistance, it's to an antibiotic that isn't used very often anyway.

Still, they should have realized the ear infections were caused by me sticking my finger in my ear much earlier. Durrrrrrr.

This is part of the reasons why I don't emphasize on hygiene that much. Your body needs to get sick occasionally. Of course I want to be comfortable and not cause any problems for anyone else (if you're now wondering that I don't shower at all )

Modern woes indeed. While medicine and health development has enabled us to keep even the weakest chains of the link, it means that we will have diseases of affluence. Part of me wonders if the doomsday device is actually an uncurable disease.

At least you can prevent spreads of STIs with contraceptives. But yeah, that is a bad one.
