What prompted me to start this thread is the utter ridiculousness of the fact that we have it set to 50F in my dorm room despite being really cold outside. I know some people like their room to be at a different temperature than the one they enjoy outside ... so what's yours?

I bet 90% will pick the same value ... and there will be just a couple outliers.

It's currently set to a reasonable 68°F (20°C).

50 isn't completely unreasonable if you have a lot of blankets and you pay for heating...

My thermostat is controlled by the building management, and I have no idea what they set it to.

I only have a small blanket but I like going to sleep with warm clothing on and I just wrap myself in everything - I just find it so much more comfortable to sleep in a frigid room. Haha...

15°C. 20 just seems too hot for the room that I'm in.

Exact same here. I thought it was lower, but... I know I'd regret changing it.

(also it scares me if it's anything close to 80 let alone above it)

Not a clue. I know the heating is on, but I don't know what temperature.

My dorm's heater uses a thermostat, but it only turns on when set to 75. So I use it more like an on/off switch, because it can't accurately track heat in my room and WILL make it 80+ in here if I'm not careful.

I'll pick 70... it's programmed to vary from 18-22°C depending on time of day and whether it's a weekend. I'd like to set it much higher, but money. :|

I'm not sure our thermostat works correctly. Most of the year, it's set to keep it around 79º F. If we're cold, we put it up to 80º. If we're hot, we put it down to 78º. It doesn't make much sense to me, but that's pretty much all we ever need.

Err... three? We don't have thermostats that allow setting a specific temperature, we have valves on each room's radiator with settings from zero/off to five. And I have no idea what temperature each setting means, I'd need a separate thermometer to check.

68F/20C. Nice calm temperature.

My car, on the other hand, is set to "HOT". 1990s cars gets cold (and frosty as hell) when stuck outside.

21C which is... yeah, close enough to 70F. Nice and comfortable.

~75F last I recall.

I'd check now but mom's sleeping in the living room and I'd rather not wake her up by turning on the hallway light just so I can check to see what temp the thermostat's at.

Under 65 when it gets too hot, and 70 briefly when it gets too cold.

I'm trying to avoid using so much heating oil but the wood stove doesn't reach my room since it's at the other end of the house.

Not cool enough, apparently. I'm sweating like a pig in here.

My guess would be around 25C.
