I can understand that Xkeeper has to do his stuff, and that's not less. I have that too. I'm really stressed with my life and have also a lot of work to do. But well, I forgot my password to my main account: "Cajetan". I did what we shall do in this forum, contact Xkeeper about it. Well, now I'm waiting (I don't know, about a month already) and nothing happened yet. He didn't reply to my e-mail and after a few weeks I e-mailed him again.

Now, ... well. I'm still here with this rereg account and don't want to receive a ban.

What I really want in this forum is an automated password recovering function. This is better for Xkeeper and better for those who lost their passwords like me.

Greetings,
Cajetan(with his rereg: Scene).

Moving this to the appropriate forum.

Also, for the sake of convenience, here is the profile of Cajetan.

Ok, it's over. Got my main back.

Thank you,
Cajetan.

Yes, things have been exceptionally busy, to the point I have had several 12-hour days at work and not enough time to myself. My email backlog actually got over 30 (!) today, and it normally never goes above 10.

I took care of your password reset now.

What I really want in this forum is an automated password recovering function.

If you look at the registration form, you will quickly notice a problem there. The forum doesn't require any information whatsoever. You are free to sign up without tying your account to an e-mail address.

Without that information, auto recovery is impossible.

Well, it should still be possible to send a recovery link to those who do specify emails, and if you don't, too bad... but, does it happen often enough to even be worth the effort?

Much more practical and simple to redirect someone to IRC and asking an active administrator there.

Generally no, but it would probably be relatively simple to create a page with a "Reset password request" or something (though admittedly I had planned on adding this as a feature to the bot to automatically handle them for me, instead of having to look up the userid/edit user/stuff.)

Hm, but how would you know it's the actual account holder requesting it? When it's by email, you can check the address on the account, but otherwise I think all you'd have to verify is an IP address. Unless you add some type of secret-question thing. (and if you do, for the love of god, let people write their own questions. )
