We just did a faction change this past weekend back to Alliance, as a guild. I'm really excited now because I've always preferred Alliance to Horde. My wife and I will both be making Monks at launch so we can level up together. But while she is doing school work (she has a test that week), I will be playing my DK and paladin to level up my jewel crafting and farm for the new mounts. They look pretty sweet and will catch a pretty penny if I decide to sell one. But I like them too much and may end up keeping them. I was actually able to buy a Spectral Tiger mount for 160k, which was the whole reason I'd been saving up gold the past few months. I'm really glad I got it at that price. They've been hovering around 200k for a few weeks and will probably go back up in price after MoP launches.

So the expansion is out and I'm hooked in yet again. Old game mechanics are being coated with sugar, new stuff being thrown around and pandaren everywhere. Even after seven years I still play this game, which is very awesome considering the normal lifespan of a game.

It will be interesting how people will roleplay a pandaren, though.

I was stepping into Jade Forest completely unspoiled, I had no idea what to expect, what quests were where, etc.

From an Alliance standpoint, it's an interesting start and felt sufficiently "we're better than you, Horde", but then the captain of the gunship started going all gung-ho and that spoiled the mood. Overall, I'm liking it though.

One thing I don't like is how some of the quest givers are buried under a pile of mobs and you get attacked by the (almost instant) respawns as you're trying to talk to them. I've yet to die, but it's gotten ridiculous at a few points. I had fourteen monsters on me at one point and thank god I chose to level as my healing spec otherwise I wouldn't have survived that.

I started off playing a Panda Monk at midnight. I was only able to stay up for about 3 hours before crashing. Got up at 8am and continued leveling my monk. We got to 40 by the end of the day but decided to switch back to our main characters (my DK and my wife's druid). Monks are ok but I still prefer the playstyle of my DK.

So after starting in on the new MoP quests, it took us 3 days to get to 90. We were out almost all day Friday with my brother who was visiting from out of town. Saturday night we hit 90 and started gearing up for heroic dungeons. I really like the feel of the new expansion. I do wish dungeons were a touch harder. They're just a little too easy for my tastes. I enjoyed having to use CC and strategy again in Cataclysm. I wish they would have done a mix of AoE fest dungeons and then more controlled, strategy dungeons. I used whatever gear I had to get item level 440 to get into heroics and then still used most of my heroic Dragon Soul gear to actually DPS and the dungeons were still really easy.

Next is to get geared for raid finder and then find a casual raiding guild that does 2 nights a week. Our guild pretty much fell apart during Dragon Soul. I'm also working on farming the materials for the new jewelcrafting mounts. I was originally aiming for the final black one but then I discovered it looks almost identical to the recruit a friend mount, minus the wings. So I'm just going to get the yellow one and keep it. (The black one is made by crafting all 4 colors and then combining them).
