I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings

Oh, what.

That's really, really fucked. Who thought that was a good idea? Why isn't that file fucking protected?

Boot.ini is meant to be editable normally (like, uh, I did a few days ago on BMF's computer to change the boot timeout)

To prove my point, look how long this has gone without anything really happening to boot.ini. It's just some company's shitty coding that blew up things with it.

I don't know why I put this here.
It does not 'corrupt' the installation. One can simply use a boot disk to replace the bad boot.ini with a new one. That is why this isn't quite a big deal. Now, perhaps if it started screwing with \Windows... >.>

If you have a boot disk, know what broke, and know how to fix it, yes.

Hiren's BootCD, the internet, the internet.

Even without that, I'm fairly sure you can fix the bootup process with the WinXP install disk.

If the computer came with one (mine didn't but had a recovery partition), or if they're smart enough to even think about that ...

As for that bug, good thing they didn't name their files "ntldr" or "ntdetect.com", since they can also be deleted (but it changed to "grldr" in Vista)

Somewhat old wintery layout!

Silly CCP

But yeah. Children. This is why you double check your code

And if you didnt know, there is a boot.ini.backup file in your System32/something folder. (That's how I restored mine).

This is why I'm glad I never restart my computer
