One question:

Why the hell are you using Western Digital again?

MAXTOR/Seagate > WD.

Besides, I'm sure someone would figure a way past that little problem with a crack or two and enough nerds and Hot Pockets.

...What?

Ooooh, this can't end well. But... how do they plan on protecting it?

I haven't bought Western Digital since that horrible period of time a few years ago where EVERYONE'S WD hard drive I knew of started eating files.

Including the brand-new one I had for less than a week.

Guess I won't be changing my mind anytime soon!

.wav isn't on the list, and 1TB gives plenty of space to share WAV files

They also left out lossless compressions (FLAC, etc.), .ogg (or was "OOG" a typo?), MIDI and the many videogame system music file formats (NSF, SPC, etc.) ... nothing stops you from simply renaming files, either, so there goes yet another stupid copyright protection and more wasted money

My high school's email system did something like this - it didn't let you send .exe, .bat, .vbs, .zip, and the like as attachments. All you had to do was change the extension if you wanted to send one.

This was also common with hosting sites that disabled outside linking of images and such ... just renaming them to .txt usually worked, but gave them the wrong MIME type for browsers that care

Oog.

Aside from that, there's also the fact these are just for their propitary "share" system (which, by the way, is subscription based... ) From what I got, nothing stops you from just using it normally.

But then again, who would buy Western Digital anyway? Maxtor works fine, thanks.
