So I have been perplexed by this dilemma.

Only recently (a few years ago) I learned to look at people in the eyes. Previously, I always looked at their mouth, or their nose, because I felt that it helped me to understand them better.

But even now, I cannot figure out how to look at people in the eyes. I can look at their eye. The left eye, or the right eye. But I cannot look at their eyes. It's just impossible to focus in two places at the same time. If I try to look in the between of their eyes, at the nose bridge, I am not really focusing at either eye, and the whole effort feels wasted.

So usually I beam at their left eye. How do you people do?

I don't normally ban for offsite behavior but you're a whole level of terrible.

This is gonna sound funny, but I was thinking about this the other day.

I was wondering why I can't look people in the eyes generally. There are maybe 2 or 3 people I know that I can look in the eyes without problems.

So I don't look at their eyes.

I try to look at whatever part of their face is relevant to their body language. This, for some reason, tends to be the bridge of their nose.

Looking people in the eyes is a primeval confidence/challenge thing. It's generally seen as a sign of confidence, because of it.

I personally subconsciously tend to focus on one eye over the other, although sometimes I defocus slightly.

I look at both eyes unless they only have one. Then I just look at that one eye.

Paulguy's Post configuration
I mostly just focus on their face, but my eyesight is pretty poor so my focus is usually pretty coarse like that. I used to not, until I was told it was unuusal, then I worked on improving it. However, you probably don't want to basically stare someone down by focusing constantly on their eyes. As said, that is seen as a challenge. I can't give any specific advice but there's probably plenty of information on it.

I'm the same, except change years to months. I've seen a lot of people flick between eyes, so I tried that for a bit. I don't really know if it's any good or not, but it seems to work.

Their right eye.

But do note that I'm blind in my right eye, so there's an obvious physical bias here.

I usually look into both of their eyes, but sometimes I'll find myself glancing between the two.

Eye contact's always been a difficult thing for me. I just am unable to really look people in the eyes with the exception of a few people.

I absolutely hate eye contact while I'm speaking or being spoken to, but when I force myself, I meet gaze with their left eye. My eyes tend to wander south after that, and it usually stops at the tits nose.

Every time I try to look people in the eyes they end up wanting to battle me. It's really quite frustrating.

...but in all seriousness, its a confidence thing. For the most part I don't really have any issue looking certain people in the eyes, while others it takes me a while to get to that point (though this is somewhat uncommon)

just sayin isn't it impossible to
look in both eyes at the same time

like you are,
but tech only looking on one

cause I look in both you know

but the main focus falls on the eye
inline with my dominate one

gosh this is why I don't think about eye contact

overthinking something so simple

SIDEWAYS SLASH
Generally when I look at someone in the eyes, I am seeking for specific emotions of some kind.
What my eyes actually are doing and what is my brain focusing on is subconscious. So I don't know.

People pick up on empathy differently, eye contact seems to be your method. For me, I listen for variations of voice or even silence -- there's definitely something up if you're silent around me.

It's quite easy to look people in both eyes. Just look behind them so that both their eyes merge into one*.

* won't work if you tint your head.

In all honesty, though, I don't even realize this most of the time, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong. I guess I could be found looking into a random direction sometimes..

I try not to look at people in the eye too much, but when I do, generally it is alternating between both of their eyes.
