I wasn't very hungry all day today so I only had some cereal for lunch and some teriyaki-style lo mein noodles with an omelette for dinner...

I wonder if this will translate to being really hungry tomorrow

Breakfast today was scrambled eggs with chile powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper on toast with cheddar cheese... I think it needed more chile powder.

That sounds really good, Nicole! I had just rice and mixed vegetables ... it was okay but meh.

I'll make something a lot better tomorrow ... I'm thinking of pasta!

Supper was chicken, cauliflower and sweet potato french fries - the only french fries that DON'T need any salt or ketchup or other condiments. They're yummy straight out of the bag.

Er, of course, you'll want to heat them in the oven before eating them.

Aux says:

Straight out of the oven, then?

I'm eating instant mashed potatoes, with a little Grey Poupon mixed in for added flavor. It was an experimental decision, but it worked beautifully. I think I'll do that from now on when I make this particular brand--I love mashed potatoes but these ones are totally unseasoned and I'm far too lazy to make gravy, even the instant kind.

My beans turned out awesome! Thank goodness they weren't to blame for yesterdays "off" meal ... (since I made enough for four days D: )

Now I really can't help but wonder what went wrong yesterday Anyway, I'm eating the usual, rice, beans, and chicken.

Earlier I ate some pepperoni pizza, and it was immensely satisfying to eat.

I had fried rice from a Thai restaurant today ... it was pretty good! I'd say it was better than the Chinese restaurant it replaced, however it was also more than twice as expensive ($7 vs. $15) for a similar dish and I got less of it :/

Not eating there again!

Earlier, I decided to improvise and crumpled up some Coffee Crisp and put it on top of chocolate ice cream.

Then I remembered that I haven't been to Cold Stone Creamery since it opened up here and I really should.

I made curried potatoes and eggs for lunch today. I'm almost thinking about making some more right now (at 1:30 am, yes) because it was that good. Addictive, even. Right afterwards I ate entirely too much peanut butter and vanilla flavored frozen yogurt with Oreos/Butterfinger/Reese's on top (also addictive.)

Dinner was lots of homemade mozzarella and tomato slices on fancy bread with olive oil, fancy crackers, and some delicious yogurt dip that my dad made. It included goat cheese, which I'm usually not a fan of but this was really good stuff.

Maybe I should give up looking for an apartment and move in with my dad instead. I always eat so much better when I'm there.

Pizza tonight. But at least it was homemade with a thin crust and fresh cheese/pepperoni.

Problem was I ate way too much of it and had no room for dessert. :\ It happens sometimes.

Breakfast time, so a cup of tea with porridge, which I've never tried before. In it, oats, dried strawberries and I dumped a load of cinnamon in it.

It's like eating a pot of meh.

Double-Stuf Oreos. MAJOR guilty pleasure.

And speaking of Pizza Hut, I might get dinner or lunch there today...

Gluten-free baked macaroni and cheese with a hint of wasabi and seaweed, topped with Kettle® brand potato chips.

This morning, though, I had steak and eggs and greens and huge hash browns.

Does wasabi mix with cheese?

I mean, tonight's supper was a ground veal, potato and carrot concoction with melted cheese on top (and a salad with ranch dressing) and that mixes well, but... wasabi and cheese? Hmm.

Sure, why not? Honestly, I think it's kinda funny how people look at things and go "do those things really mix?" I think once you see ingredients as colors and textures and less as their own entities and once you start thinking of dishes holistically, you start to realize that a lot more things match up than you think. Like, to me, wasabi is just another way to add a kick to your food. It definitely has a different flavor profile from red pepper, but it's not an overbearing taste.

There are a lot of foods people dislike just because it betrays their expectations of how it should be or taste or because they think it's gross just because they're not used to the combination of ingredients in it. That sort of pickiness is a little frustrating to me.

ps:

Roast drumsticks (ground cardamom, sea salt, black pepper, ground cayenne pepper, ground sage, dried savory, smoked paprika, onion powder, dried rosemary, dried marjoram, dried parsley, safflower oil), braised potatoes and mushrooms (chicken stock, olive oil), sautéed greens
