Anything you wish to share? Like mechanical or graphic differences? Otherwise, this is a pretty pointless post.

Where did you friend even get it, if I can ask?

Yes, please detail the differences, and take screenshots! Having a Prototype section for this game on TCRF would be really cool. How did you get it, by the way? Do you plan to dump it?

I post you guys a movie in my first post from the Proto. Includes complete intro and the first 10min of the Proto.
Now i have to find the debug menu!
But here some screenshots (game is not dumped yet, need some parts for it, so sorry for the quality!!!):

SinReVi write this after looking my movie (Thanks to SinReVi!!!):

"
- Arek has always been Alekdias/Arekdias in the Japanese version.

- Maxim and Grandpa mention "Reset" in the cave.

- There's an Arrow, Bomb, Hammer, Hook, Fire Arrow in Maxim's inventory. (Perhaps you have to equip that into the skill slot that's in the equip menu). Maybe the Reset used to be a spell only, or it just gets added in the inventory.

- Erim's sprite looks like a placeholder to me. I mean it looks like Iris' head on Lufia I Selan's legs. Actually, she looks like a child to me =P

-Tanbel's roofs are red instead of yellow/brownish

- Parcelyte's roofs are red instead of blue/purple.

- Treadool has green roofs instead of blue.

- Just different graphics in general (tilesets, sprites etc)

- They moved around some trees and flowers in Elcid. And probably alot of other stuff in other cities.

- There's a sign in Parcelyte.

- In battle there's a icon that says IP instead of the usual flame.

- The magic icon also looks different. As does the "swap positions" icon.

- Some music sounds different to me. Also some different use of sound effects.

- Also, Maxim sounds different. (I mean his "voice" sounds like a female "bleep" or the one of a child.

- Taito screen is black. (in the japanese version it's on a white background)

- The shop in Elcid doesn't sell boomerangs like in the final version.

- The Warp is 150 gold instead of 120.

- Escape is 200 gold instead of 100.

- Maxim starts with 18 atp instead of 20.

- The text "gold" is in capitals in the shop menu.

- Maxim starts with 10 potions and 50 miracles. (perhaps so the test player doesn't die? =P )

- The Butterfly enemy gives 3EXP instead of 5.

- EXP and Gold earned is listed next to eachother, instead of under eachother.

- The training cave mentions Elcid in it's name.

- miracle just heals alot of HP instead of "Full"

- the final version has "scenario" for the secenario items in the menu, the proto has something else in it's place. (Looks like もどる to me. Don't know that word but it said it means "return" when I looked it up)

- Maxim talks back to Grandpa when he talks about Reset.

- grandpa doesn't talk about the skill ring after he gives Maxim Reset.

- There are rocks in the room with the lizard and the jelly.

Interesting! It seems very different from the final. I can't wait for you to dump it, if that's what you plan. Can you speak Japanese at all?

Awesome update, and thank you for all this info. ^^ I can't wait to see a playable version, either.

Wow, the World Map got an overhaul. Now I'm extra curious.

I'm interested in seeing this dumped too, because I've found a lot of debug menus in SNES games for the wiki, and I'd be happy to help look for one in the Lufia 2 prototype (plus, it looks like there are lots of differences from the final and it would make a pretty interesting article overall!)

Finally! A prototype where the world map is drastically different!

I'm really interested in looking at this!

Game over.

According to a fellow Lost Levels member, he tried to dump one of the chips with an EPROM reader and likely toasted it. He recently tried to resell it on eBay as "corrupt." This is probably why we haven't gotten any further updates.

Moral of the story: don't screw around with things like this unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing.

Siiiiiigh.

Maybe someone can take it from him who knows what he's doing and...well let's just pray the thing isn't so fucked up all to hell that we can't salvage stuff from it.

This makes me sad. Very sad. Probably ain't another one like it too. ._.

Looks like some of the data is getting salvaged; but goddamn, talking with the guy is frustrating as hell.

Thanks for that. I'm glad to see it being repaired. I hope most of it is still good, though if we've gotten this much, it is a good sign. Right?

The newer screens make me think that this isn't as different as I thought it was at first.
