Thanks to M Moogle, I now have the Super Mario Sunshine playable demo from the 7th GameCube Kiosk Demo. Surprisingly, it seems the files are from quite late in production. In fact, almost everything is finalized. However, there are some juicy gems tucked inside:

-There's an archive named "TitleE3.arc". It's the only one on the disk that isn't double-compressed. As you'd expect, it contains the assets for the playable demo version at E3 2002, including an early design for the logo!

-The mysterious "message.szs" from the Japanese version is present, but its contents are gone.

-While all of the models and textures and such are exactly the same as in the final, I've noticed differences in the message files.

-This last one is just an observation. The only level files included are the ones that were at E3. The E3 mission select includes one Secret platforming stage, but the sky it shows in the preview is a bright blue sky. The one included is the standard starry train sky.

Also, how would this be classified on the Wiki? Would this be Proto: Super Mario Sunshine? After all, it's a demo from a kiosk disk.

The Proto: psuedo-namespace (is it psuedo? I forget.) is for basically anything not the final release. See also the Chrono Trigger Pre-Release Demo, which is also under Proto:.

I think it's the same demo you can find in the Interactive Multi Game Demo Disc 08 and in the AUS Multi Game Demo Disc 3 ( this two demos are the same). In the last one i found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LmdqoOdA_0

This video has some differences from the final version:
-the paint portal that leads Shadow Mario paints shows Ricco Harbor's image, not Bianco Hills, at 0:37;
-the police station has a blue coin instead of a minigame, it seems, at 0:50.;
-at 1:02, the M gives a regular coin instead of a blue one;
-the Gatekeeper flashes blue. at 1:38;
-Mario rides a green Yoshi with no juice.

I've started adding contents to the page, such as the early logo and a message file completely in XML!

Edit: All dialogue changes added. I was wrong about there being new dialogue, I just didn't recognize some lines.

Update: After watching one of my friends play the demo, my investigation is now complete. The only other discovery I've made is that the first Episode of Bianco Hills is, in fact, unused in the demo. Both Bianco Hills options take place in Episode 2. So, sadly, that's as big as the article is going to get.

Would it be possible that we could make a beta restoration based on these E3 2002 things?

There really wouldn't be a point to that. The only significant difference is the minor dialogue tweaks, and most people wouldn't even realize those had been changed. Restoring the level select menu would limit you to only playing those few levels in the whole game, and for all the effort that would take, you might as well just play the demo.

Just a bump to note that I updated the translation of the weird train-related dialogue here. Hopefully it's more comprehensible now. I wonder if Sol Coins were akin to Shines and acted like the Stars you get in Super Mario 64 that give you access to more of the game as you progress?

OK. But where can i get that demo? I have only the Demo Disc 3 PAL/September 2002 one. Where could i get the Version 7?

And i didn't mean that. I ment that the beta would be restored on this demo disc iso instead of the final product.

I'll send it to you. Of the Kiosk Demos, it's one the harder ones to find.

I don't really understand what you mean about restoration, then. The demo is the demo and it is on the demo disk. What's to restore?

Well, i mean the Yoshi's original color (Green), old title screen graphics, etc. (and i know it's a fan-made beta restoration then).

BTW, the file you sent me is the promotional video from Demo Disc 7, not the game itself.

Aside from the texture for the old title screen, those things aren't even in the demo. As I said, almost everything included is basically the final version of the game.

Actually they are. While Yoshi isn't seen in the demo, his model is there and it's colored green. But still, i don't know is it the bmdview2's part.

Yoshi's color is handled by shaders, since it changes so much. His model in the final game is green, too. You'd have to hack the files of the demo to see if he's colored properly, but judging by the state of the rest of the game, he will most likely still be colored when you hatch him.

Do you have the files for the early title screen? What format are they in? Can you upload them?

Yes, I already uploaded them to the page when I first made it. What you see on the article is basically all there is to see.
