I'm just wondering if there was a way to actually view the scenes in game (probably not possible since it's an overdump) or map files, what have you of this...

From the wiki discussion of this:

"Nothing to see here, go along. -- Bob Newbie 07:52, 13 February 2012 (EST)

That was added before the extra data. I compared the data with every version of OoT I had and nothing matches to this data as far as I know, so it's unique. It's not from the Master Quest rom. The debug version of Master Quest has something similar where it has extra data from Pokemon Stadium 2 I think. Coincidentally, the address where the extra data begins are the same in both roms. Evilhamwizard 14:07, 17 March 2012 (EDT)

Here are the partial mappings I made with the bookmark feature in Hex Workshop along with the extracted data from the Majora's Mask debug rom to match it up with - http://www.mediafire.com/?tvkkc3bvxvx3kv5. I used the internal names for teach scene/map and used this as a guide - http://spinout182.com/mqd/f.html. Evilhamwizard 14:18, 17 March 2012 (EDT)

cendamos, the guy who spoke about it, even speaks of it, in the message he made which can be seen in a hex editor if you open the rom, (note this just copy and pasted from the discussion page, and I have seen this exact text in the rom myself)

www.zelda64.net hello zelda fansmy name is cen and i sure love zelda because i spent a few thousand dollars on this hoping it would have cool stuff -- and it did!! following this padding is an overdump of the original development copy of ocarina of time!!

anyway, i am the guy who made all those weird codes like the arwing hack with my pal jay, or play as dark link and even made the game multiplayer! so i am a pretty big zelda fan. i bought this for all those people still looking for new stuff; and while i already have myself ripped apart this ROM, I will leave it up to the ZELDA FANS to have lots of fun trying to find all the hidden stuff inside of it!

so here is hoping you guys have lots of fun with it because it cost an assload and i could have totally bought a microwave instead or something really cool and please no dramawars!

regardless if you need help with hacking this thing dont hesitate to email me at cendamos@gmail.com

by the way, this was all useless padding space; so i decided to write a very long rant about hacking zelda.

you might wonder why i shelled out a few thousand dollars, and i do too. it's mainly because without zelda being all mysterious, i'd have never ever had the drive to obtain all the skills i needed to reverse engineer the game.

as a result i am now employed as a professional programmer and making good money, all thanks to zelda and the zelda fans who liked my work.

so, without zelda i have no idea where i would be today.

you can visit the zelda64 fan club at zelda64.net

also if you're a nintendo employee you really should consider giving me a alpha copy of ocarina of time so that i can document it because that is a totally awesome idea.

or if you're a cute girl who likes zelda hacking you should definitely email me a picture of yourself!!

but yeah hey, gonna go now and release this ROM

if you wanna say hi or have a penpal cendamos@gmail.com is my email

have fun zelda fans!!

from cen, with love

Hi there, and welcome to the forum! I'm not really sure what to make of this thread, because it's... kind of hard to understand.

From what I'm getting:

the person who dumped the Majora's Mask debug rom overdumped it and there is extra data that does not belong to any known version of Majora's Mask or Ocarina of Time. Additionally, the dumper tampered with the ROM and added a large, semi-incoherent rambling message into the ROM.

If I'm not mistaken, that is.

ADDITIONALLY: Don't triple-post, even if there's a mistake in your post. The "EDIT" button is on the top-right line above the post itself. If you can't for some reason edit your post, you can also send a moderator (like myself) a PM and ask for them to fix the error. Thank you for posting, now to try to figure out what on earth to do with this... stuff.

Do you mean these? They are the prerendered backgrounds from Ocarina of Time, given to me by Cendamos, who said he found them in the Majora's Mask debug ROM. That's all the information I have.

I know that these are unused in MM but are any of these unused from OoT(excluding the first pic)? I feel as if most of them were used in OoT but I am not certain. I have played the game many times but I can't point out directly where some of these places are. It is a cool find though.

Curse420, if that is what you were looking for then there you go. I wouldn't bother trying to get these to load in-game since they are just prerendered backgrounds. If you need more specifics or that wasn't what you were looking for, I would recommend asking Cendamos or Evilhamwizard directly.

All of them are used. Every single one of them.

Well to be technical, isn't the first one unused as far as the game is concerned? I know that it is used in Room 124 on the debug rom.

I can confirm that yes, all of those are used, aside from the first one, which I believe can be found in the OoT debug rom. I can't imagine why they would be in Majora's Mask, though, unless it was just copy/paste.

Out of curiosity, if all the renders are used, then where do the ones with what look like simple caverns and block platforms come from?

Here:

Or has it been too long since I played it?
