I knew that Jul didn't take in Vizzed users well, and they already had a stigma against Vizzedians. However, I knew that I was different compared to the average user there. (12 years old pokefan derps.) I just joined, made my introduction thread, and was welcomed in. I wasn't exactly active except in the Mafia threads in Signpost Maze, but then on December last year I decided to screw everything and truly joined Jul as a Juler, and... Yeah... here I am. I have a bunch of great friends here, plus I'm perfectly happy here. Everything is well. c: My point is that you can't really know what's going to happen when you join a new forum, until it happens. I even thought Jul was full of stuck-up people with high expectations in an unwelcome clique. True story. D: Also, I'm going to echo what Aioli said... roll with it! ____________________ |

I sadly do not join forums often enough because most tend to be of the "you must conform to our extremes else ye be the punching bag till you ragequit and/or conform eventually".
The few that were not that way include Jul, obviously. But Jul and the few others were/are filled with actually intelligent people. Not jerks. ____________________ |

| I had this problem more before I joined up with Jul. I had a nice string of bad luck with forums, so naturally, I just kind of decided to stop joining forums.
However, something about Jul had me jump out and enjoy myself at everywhere but the TCRF forums, so somehow I just started posting more and getting accepted more, and bam. | I actually have a sort of inverted problem, as the message board I usually frequented has just about self-destructed due to its member cliques/factions, paired with a lack of new content/people/posts. It's basically become a circle-jerk of e-buddies, and if you're not on their good side, you get targeted and ridiculed. But I mean, hanging out there for some years now, I don't really know where to migrate to. A lot of boards seem so serious lately, and less light-hearted. Or if they are, it's because they've become the extreme of factionalism and are just forums full of e-buddies who no longer have anything but themselves. It seems like the only cool in-between kinda places are very inactive or just outside my interests :o
What a weird place the internet seems to be. |

May not want to take MY advice, since I'm not the best with online relationships...
But I'll toss in my two cents and give you something to think about. Generally, be yourself, but also, be flexible. I'm not saying to be one of those bendy straws that people can twist any way they want, because eventually you end up acting like not you. It's cliche, but I think that's the most important thing... although... --- While you can be yourself, you may not be liked, conversely, you could act like someone you are not, yet still be liked. --- Once you get that part aside, it's just enjoying the atmosphere and contributing to it positively. People tend to not like those who intentionally annoy everyone. it's just not conducive to success 
When I joined jul, I was like... "what the hell is this place" Unlike what Colin suggested, I didn't really "lurk". I just decided to be me. I got a few friends, so I did something right I suppose. I don't really stick around here much anymore (for secret reasons) but I'd like to think I'm generally ok with some people. I just did what felt natural, and before I knew it, people at least knew who I was. So I guess that's my little ramble(?) I hope it was of some help. ____________________ What Would Leggy Do? |

| I've never really felt that I had to do anything to make myself fit in with a community until I stumbled across this one. I feel like quite a bit of an outsider, largely because I am one lol. I just kind of float in and out, hopefully getting a little closer to the right shore each time. |
